Successive governments have made people feel disenfranchised, (not hard right) by continuing to allow in people who bring their culture with them with no efforts to integrate. Let’s be honest and say that it can be to the detriment of the people. There will, of course, be some who want extreme measures to stop it, and, I’m not agreeing with it, but it is understandable . About time governments listened to their electorate and started implementing some rules for immigration, or this will be happening across Europe.
Austrian hard-right party WINS 'earthquake' election after pledging to close borders and end support for Ukraine: Leader called for 'non-ethnic Europeans' to be expelled.....
Austria's hard-right Freedom Party has topped the country's national elections, winning the popular vote for the first time in its history.
While the party has been in government several times, it's the first time it has won the most votes, having gained the support of 29.1 per cent of electors, according to projections based on more than 60 per cent of the votes counted.
But even with the victory, it is still uncertain that the party will be able to form the next government.
In line with the insurgence of far-right parties elsewhere in Europe, the Freedom Party has seen its popularity soar, fed by voter anger over migration, inflation and Covid restrictions.
Its leader Herbert Kickl, 55, has vowed to transform the country into 'Fortress Austria', slamming the current government's 'failed migration policy' as being to blame for the Islamist terror plot on a Taylor Swift concert.
Based on current projections, the conservative People's Party, led by current Chancellor Karl Nehammer, is on course to become the second largest group, with 26.3 per cent of votes.

"The party was founded by former high-ranking SS officers".
In the 60s I worked in a factory where there was a "former SS Officer"... his influence was extraordinary ... even the bosses appeared to be in awe of him. These Nazis seem to get their power by exuding confidence and never showing doubt.

I would think the best way to avoid any right leaning party was to actually carry out policies that the electorate voted for and not to carry out policies that they did not vote for. In line with all Western European governments the policies voted for were controlled immigration with consideration given to asylum seekers but to control that effectively. That control was lost and then it was noted that despite the electorate voting for the opposite then immigration was allowed to run rampant with deleterious effects on the country. Parties are now gaining power whereby they offer actual strict control that the electorate voted for in the first instance and if they also come with other baggage then that is not the fault of the electorate it is the fault of those who thought they knew better and lied to gain power and have now been proven wrong.

The reaction of societies to mass immigration was never going to be in doubt . Across Europe as you say Jonksy we are seeing a growing support for right wing politics though the system of coalition governments that they employ means these popular parties are a little way off being in governments. It's a warning though to the centralist democrats that I hope they heed that if they don't get a grip there are a growing number that will move ever further right until either they do or the right do actually take power .
Our right wing is pretty moderate compared to those in Europe ,we are not talking about Badenoch or even Farage and Anderson here but a far right of ultra nationalists who are up for some pretty extreme measures .

I remember the days when the FPO were lead by Jorg Haider. His father was a member of the DNSAP the Austrian Nazi party and the SA, the Brownshirts and his own politics were in line with those of his father. The FPO are awful.
This is not good.

No it isn’t Vinny and not good for the Ukraine but this is what happens when the eu and us opened the doors to all comers. If you point that out you’re far right,if you post about it without reference to any violence being used you’re far right, If you say there isn’t the infrastructure and there isn’t it’s racist, the movement of people will become an avalanche and yep I feel sorry for the innocents but we can’t take everyone. It isn’t fair but life never has been.

What politics as regards the party are awful? If history is a measure we should have nothing to do with the slave-owning/supporting Democratic party in the US but we do, we consign their history to... well... history. We hear they are far right but no one seems to know what that is and we should heed the warnings from history about far right parties that no one seems able to explain why they were far right. So I think until we get some detail then we should support the democracy of the Austrian people and respect their choice.

I respect and accept the democratic choice of the Austrian people, but the FPO's support for Putin, their opposition to humanitarian aid (Austria doesn't supply military aid to Ukraine), and their opposition to sanctions against Putin, is awful.
I accept the vote, I do not have to like it.

I accept the vote, I do not have to like it. Do they support Putin or are they more in line with vehement neutrality and favour talks. There is one clear thing supporting Ukraine is prolonging the war irrespective of the rights and wrongs and support for the war means more deaths both Ukrainian and Russian. I know it is a fine line between appeasement and discussion but realistically it has to be brought to an end somehow.

You cannot achieve peace when one side is genocidal and the other interested only in survival.
The correct response is to tell Putin to go and fuck himself. The FPO are dangerously wrong on this matter and their opposition to humanitarian aid disgusts me.
The war will end through Ukrainian victory about two years from now. That's when there will be peace in Ukraine and revolution in Russia.

Do they oppose humanitarian aid or is it only military aid they oppose? Revolution in Russia will not be pretty for the Russians and in the end, as history tells us only too clearly, not pretty for us either. Perhaps a little pragmatism may be helpful. Blair said we could not reason with Saddam but the outcome of removing him was in the end not a good outcome for us, or at least the ordinary British Citizen.

From the genocide convention Article II:
What happened at Bucha ? A, B,C,&D.
What happened in Donetsk, Luhansk and wider Donbas? A,B,C,D, & E.
Putin's war against Ukraine is genocidal.
Genocide must be prevented and the only way to prevent it is through force of arms against those who invaded Ukraine intent on genocide.
Ukrainian surrender would mean death.
The FPO know this, and do not care.

IMHO The question is why have so many people voted for this what is considered to be " Far Right Wing Party " IMO because they are not happy with what has happened to their Country how it has been run, again IMO because their way of life their customs and culture has been damaged watered down by the influx of people from other countries. I have never voted for Labour in the UK in over 50 years of having the vote because when they were in power they failed miserably and ran my country very badly , Labour under Blair opened the flood gates to mass immigration of mainly unskilled Labour which altered my country completely and not for the better, that is the main reason I left England it is no longer the England of my youth. Many Irish are not happy with the numbers of " Alleged Asylum Seekers" arriving in the Republic some 9,000 this year and yes I am what is called a blow in but I have come to live with them not against them, I accept their way of life customs and culture I enjoy it and I pay my way I do not expect them to keep me or change their ways to suit me or anyone else
