The judge just declared open season on Van Gogh paintings with his excessive sentence. Some soup cleaned the patina off a small part of a picture frame. I'm off to buy a tin of Heinz cream of tomato. If they are going to be sent to prison, then I'm all for them chucking soup. Heinz must be thrilled. Advertising like this normally costs a fortune. They're so ugly they could advertise Pedigree Chum.

The frame was bought to house the painting which is valued at £72 million cost thousands of pounds ( where are you going to get another one ), the damage to the frame cost £10,000 to repair not an excessive sentence was a message to others don't do it IMO The frame was bought for £6,500 when the gallery acquired the painting. No repairs were carried out to the frame. It was estimated that the loss of patina on the 17th century frame was worth £8k-£10k. Basically, the slight acidity of the soup cleaned some of the frame. There was no real damage as such. Unlike several hundred glaciers, the patina will return in a few decades.

I can only go by the media reports I have read which do differ one stated $13,000 another twice that and cost to repair the frame which also stated the Frame was selected to house the painting which was not cheap , on top of that is the Court costs, and the costs of keeping them in Prison. And yes I am concerned about climate change

Wheeling out an autistic girl spouting platitudes, holding up the traffic and chucking soup over art . That’s how to persuade the great unwashed to buy more heat pumps and buy EVs

I got that the first time round, I simply stated what I had read in the Media So what repairs do you think were carried out? Oh Hum once again from the media they simply stated a section of it had to be repaired and if I recall correctly it cost £10,000 again I can only guess probably to blend in the section that needed cleaning Just found the report I read by Sky. " Three Just Stop Oil supporters have denied damaging Vincent van Gogh paintings, a court has heard. It comes after two versions of the Dutch master's famous Sunflowers, on display at the National Gallery in London, were hit by soup on Friday. The artworks were targeted shortly after two Just Stop Oil protesters were sentenced on the same day for pouring tins of tomato soup on a Sunflowers painting at the same gallery in October 2022, in a separate incident. Stephen Simpson, 71, and Mary Somerville, 77, both from Bradford, and Phillipa Green, 24, of Penryn, Cornwall, all pleaded not guilty to criminal damage at Westminster Magistrates' Court on Monday. Prosecutor James Bowker told the court the trio entered the Van Gogh: Poets and Lovers exhibition at the art museum in Trafalgar Square at around 2.30pm on Friday. Simpson and charity worker Green threw soup at one of the Sunflowers paintings, while retired teacher Somerville threw soup onto another version of the artwork a short distance away on the same wall, the court was told. The trio then took off their coats to reveal T-shirts which said "Just Stop Oil", the prosecution added. Neither painting itself was damaged, Mr Bowker said. But the prosecutor said damage was caused to the two frames, including an antique owned by the National Gallery. The antique frame, which has an estimated worth of £10,000 to £20,000, would "likely require lengthy restoration", Mr Bowker said. " The mistake I made was the £10,000 was the lower estimate of the cost of the frame not the cost of repairs are you Happy now

However, although I don’t support destroying art and culture to support a political cause, the target in this case was potentially less harmful (and inconveniencing) than blocking main thoroughfares that could be needed by the emergency services. I’d still hammer them, though…

There would be little point in hitting them with a large fine to pay the bill, they would never pay it and would eventually be sent to Prison for non-payment of Fines.
Thoroughfares can be cleared and are , you cannot replace a Painting that is considered to be a Masterpiece and valued at over £70 Million

Phoebe Plummer got 2 years plus another 3 months for something else, her mate got 20 months, I saw Phoebe being interviewed by Jacob Rees Mogg early this year, she displayed the naivety of youth coupled with the zealous insanity of the JSO mob, she obviously had recieved a good education and now she is about to learn a little bit more about life in the next two years, I suspect that the environment may not be her greatest concern in the near future, she will be too busy avoiding being shagged by some monster lezzie, poor child. So out in 3 weeks then under 2TK's make room for white non labour voters measures...
