Well that has already happened, Gilt rates are above those we saw under Truss (and she collapsed the economy apparently). The markets look ahead and when they raise rates it is an indication that they do not like what they see. Gilt rates encourage investment into the Government. That seems to be the way to go when pulling the economy out of the mire and producing more money for investment into progress for the country in the future. You don't understand what gilts are or how they work Gilts are simply government debt , sold at a discount to be repaid in full by that government at various very short, short , medium and long term defined future dates

I thought that they weren't allowed to be? Isn't he risking being chucked off a cliff or something, but I still can't understand why our Prime Minister receives such lavish gifts and bribes from a gay man, it is most odd.

Starmer suffers ‘unprecedented’ collapse in popularity for new PM....... Starmer’s approval rating has collapsed more significantly after winning an election than any other prime minister in modern history, a new poll has shown. Following the July election, which saw the Labour Party win a landslide majority of 174 seats, the prime minister approval rating reached a high of plus 11..... But by October, just days before Rachel Reeves’ Budget on Wednesday, new polling from More in Common showed that the prime minister’s personal approval rating has fallen to -38 – a net drop of 49 points. His rating is now lower than that of former prime minister Rishi Sunak, which now sits at -31 following an increase of six points since he lost the election. Sir Tony Blair’s approval rating was at plus 46 in August 1997, three months after he won a landslide election victory. At the time of the election, his approval rating stood at plus 60. It was not until summer 2000 when his approval rating slipped to below zero. Meanwhie, David Cameron’s approval rating did not turn negative until the beginning of 2011, after the formation of the coalition government in 2010. It was not until April 2012 that his rating dropped to around -30, the polling showed......

He doesn't care if he's unpopular or not, he's giving us all the two finger salute, he knows (thinks) he's safe for the next 5 years, and if he makes it as leader for the 5 years I doubt he has any intentions of wanting to do another 5 years, he'll be off on a cushy number in the EU if he does as he's told in the next 5 years, that's why he doesn't give a toss about being unpopular, if the rest of Labour want to get 10 years out of it, then they need to get shut of the liability Starmer ASAP

Gilt rates encourage investment into the Government. That seems to be the way to go when pulling the economy out of the mire and producing more money for investment into progress for the country in the future. They're an IOU ie government debt that has to be paid back in the future. Borrowing in order to invest is capitalism. Borrowing in order to make the rich richer is Conservatism.

They're an IOU ie government debt that has to be paid back in the future. Labour will borrow until we are bankrupt, they wont rest until the UK has a -A credit rating, they don't care because they are going to make the most of their five yea term, because after that they are history and the problem will be for the next government to sort out their utter mess and incompetence. Thankfully your posts are based upon your total bias, not on information or even on commonsense.

And people wonder why I try to wake Rightists up to the real world, there could be no stronger recommendation than reading through this thread LOL I wonder, will you still be comming out with garbage like that ^ after 12 months of two tier Keir's socialist shambles. Knowing you, the answer is yes. Knowing you I expect your posts to be completely biased, and to add up to complete nonsense. What you fail to understand is that owning ingrained political bias closes you mind to reality, which is why you can't debate, all you can do is to post lies, distortions, and to denigrate. All of which is Dark Rhetoric.

To be fair, Lord Alli is gay Hmm... I wonder what the revelations above 2TKs private life will turn out to be. I used to wonder what Farage's private life would reveal after I saw a video of him leaving a train and exiting the Railway station some years ago. His way of walking and bodily movements giving me cause to wonder. I posted my opinion at that time, and apparently upset John of Gwent. Hmm, I assumed it was because John is a Right-Winger, but there is another possibility.

All of which is Dark Rhetoric. You call it ingrained political bias, I call it common sense. Before this budget I (and many other people) said Labour would tax and borrow, and what did Reeves announce? £40 billion in extra taxes lots more borrowing and lots more debt. Predicting that a Labour government will tax and borrow is not political bias, or a particularly brilliant prediction. All you need do is look back to every previous Labour government. Tax and borrow is what Labour governments do.
