Just hoping they don’t get palliative sentences.
They should go to prison.
Same with Stop Oil.
I have no sympathy with indoctrinated disrupters of society — especially as they’re often causing more atmospheric pollution than if they sat at home mouthing off on social media…

No sympathy from me. They have absolute right to protest but no vandalize stuff.

I believe 18 months is the maximum sentence they face, I'll be surprised if they get custodial sentences. Such is the state of law and order in this country at the moment.

I doubt if any of them will get 18 months, however those with previous convictions may get a few months inside, on the other hand given the cost of the damage caused and not pleading guilty when they were filmed causing the damage, the Judge may make an example of some of them.

I think the main point here is the fact all but one have a criminal record for similar past conduct. The report does not say when that was. I suspect their ability to continue their criminal acts points to an over lenient sentence the first time.
If the organisation were proscribed as it should be then the courts might be able to go after the supporters of their actions too. Certainly something punitive needs to be done. I don’t see why Barclays customers should be saddled with the bill.
Watch this space. Sentencing is due in 27 Jan

I listened to something yesterday, on GB News I think, that said of the protestors who were arrested for blocking roads a few months ago, more than 20 of them had been arrested for the same offence previously, and one of them had been arrested seven times. Clearly there is no deterrent.

Yes, I read something similar, a while back, that a woman arrested for gluing herself to the road had only recently been released from a courtroom on a similar charge and had others in her rap sheet or whatever it is called.
One can only hope the presence of injunctions acquired by Highways England can l ad to convictions for contempt of court and the sentencing judge for such takes that rather more seriously.
Surely a few months behind bars in this financial climate should cause havoc for their ability to meet their bills.

Some have made it quite clear that they do not care if they are sent to Prison or not , they are prepared to go to Prison for their cause to save the planet for future generations.

Not very bright are they, mind you they probably, in a number of different ways, do represent quite a chunk of society.

One might say how very noble except the ringleader has stated he is quite happy to cause people’s deaths to achieve his aim which I feel should at the very least be a corporate man slaughter charge and preferably an extraordinary rendition to a country with some rather sharia traditions.

This is where education has failed. These eco zealots think they're on a mission from god. They think that to stop the use fossil fuels in the UK will save the planet, this is beyond the realms of sanity. The UK is 0.8% of the global population. On an emissions basis we are insignificant at best. The government could switch off UK Plc and on a global level it would make not a jot of difference. But it would make left wing virtue signalling eco zealots feel smug as we shivered in our caves.

The Met Police Commissioner did explain on TV the Police have to witness a pattern of behaviour by individuals evidence that is sufficient to warrant arresting any person and good enough that the CPS can consider charging them , and they can only arrest if the offence they witness has a power of arrest attached to it, not all offences have, that is why the PM had to get involved. Smashing a Banks windows etc is straight forward criminal damage instant arrest, walking slowly in groups on the road holding traffic up no offence unless they stop and sit down or glue themselves to the tarmac Highway Obstruction The Eco Warriors or whatever they call themselves have stopped for now hopefully they will not go back to their old tactics
