A Labour-run council in Wales has scrapped free transport for nursery and sixth form pupils but made an exception for Welsh-speaking schools. Bridgend county borough council said it had made the “reluctant” decision to stop providing travel for children aged four or under and those 16 or over. However, the local authority will continue to lay on transport free of charge for pupils who attend Welsh schools, where pupils are taught and converse in Welsh. linkI would have no problem with this policy, if it was applied across England as well, or the whole of the UK. But as ever the English speaking majority are treated as a minority who should apologise for existing.

Do you think English speaking people should be discriminated against if they don't attend Welsh speaking schools? After all this is what the OP is about.

Numerically I agree. But in 21st century UK anyone who is white and English has at best, a minority voice... ...And don't you dare wave that nasty racist St Georges flag or union jack, it may offend minorities.

Do you think that minorities should apologise for existing? Do you think English speaking people should be discriminated against if they don't attend Welsh speaking schools? After all this is what the OP is about. I don't know the details because I wasn't able to access more than the topic sentence in the link. I read this elsewhere: "Bridgend county borough council said it had made the “reluctant” decision to stop providing travel for children aged four or under and those 16 or over. However, the local authority will continue to lay on transport free of charge for pupils who attend Welsh-medium schools, where pupils are taught and converse in Welsh, and free schools."What are free schools? The ruling only applies to under 4 year olds and over 16's, possibly two groups who wouldn't be taking school transport anyway. I wouldn't put my 4 year old on a school bus. At any rate, if transportation is made available only to some, the only acceptable exception I can think of would be handicap. For instance, handicapped children could be transported whereas able-bodied children might be within walking distance. Language is not an acceptable exception unless that's a group living very far away from the school.

Bridgend is renowned for bending over and taking it up the shitter from the cottage burners
The argument used to justify free transport for Welsh medium schools is the relatively small number and large distances their intake has to travel over.

But as ever the English speaking majority are treated as a minority who should apologise for existing. poor old brit nats , always looking for victimhood . We have just had the opposite in scotland red. We recently had labour luvvies , the British nationalist scot Andrew Marr , attacking Gaelic language signs in Edinburgh , then having to issue an apology because he made a complete tit of himself as per normal. Devolution , and the different policy aside for schoolchildren in Wales, ive never understood as a scot why certain British nationalists feel threatened by language such as Gaelic or Cymraeg or even Cornish. Is it because the existence of native languages in these islands blows a hole in the fantasy of the homogenous English speaking island race?

Turfed off the other forum wee tommy, or got bored of the place already? im still a member Buckie , but when I get the chance I post on many forums. Im just enjoying the labour luvvies having a melt down about starmer. Whoever could have thought starmer would become so unpopular so quickly? Bet a few folk who voted for those labour bar stewards are feeling like cants already.
