Because as more streets are closed to traffic, congestion becomes increasingly bad on surrounding streets. Traffic doesn't disappear, it's just forced onto fewar streets which increases congestion and pollution. London is a big place . If they closed the north circular or the A13 and embankment then I’d agree it was a war on motorists but Oxford street ? I dunno. Tbh, compared to this neck of the woods, London is a different country.

I used to drive through it a few times via the embankment and worked in Fleet Street for a while . I enjoyed driving around London then . Those days are gone . I worked North London in the early 2000s . It cant possibly be a bigger shit hole there now than it was . Truly awful.

Ham to Clapham and down to Lewisham and onto Elmers End Was not too bad, digged for a while at Ilford not sure if I want to go back now. Have only been in London once since then to drop someone off in Kensington and got lost. Road signs seem to have disappeared telling you where you are and what roads lead to where. Will not miss it at all. Stopped off in Putney in 74 (or just south of the river) for a couple of nights after driving from Tottenham with a broken exhaust. Found my way no problem then.

The lads I used to know who were from London don't live there any more. The immigrants moved in and they moved out.

That’s pretty much the story now . Crime rates sky rocketing and white flight . Trouble is crime is moving out to the suburbs now . We even had county lines black gangs moving into Canvey island near Southend a few years ago .

Slight digression. Apologies for being a tad quiet. Mrs R got back from her sojourn in Spain a couple of hours ago and she had to tell me all about it, which was nice... But she's knackered so she's gone to bed, with the cat as it happens lol. No doubt I'll get the unedited version tomorrow.

Shades of Kubla Khan? Suddenly I feel all poetic.
In Oxford St. did Sadiq Khan A stately pedestrian zone decree. With trendy bars And no more cars, It's Shanks's now for you and me.
