The Times reports that Scottish Government ministers made over 120 overseas trips in just two years despite foreign affairs being a matter reserved for Westminster.
Details are given of trips to places as distant as Chile and China, the latter trip by Angus Robertson and a two-person entourage estimated to have cost £15,000 including business-class travel and 5-star hotels. In fact Robertson was the SNP's most frequent traveller over the period in question, clocking up 21 trips to thirteen countries, with fellow party apparatchika Mairi Gougeon claiming silver with ten trips of her own.
Particularly aggravating were the jaunts by former party supremo Humza Yousaf which led to David Cameron threatening to close down the SNP's overseas offices, of which there are now eight, including one in Brussels for 'EU representation'. Why? Scotland isn't an EU member and there is little prospect of it ever becoming one.
