The cost of furnishing flats for asylum seekers cannot be released because the issue is too “sensitive”, a watchdog has ruled. John Edwards, the Information Commissioner, has ruled in favour of the Home Office, which refused to reveal the cost of furnishing a block of flats to be used by 346 asylum seekers in Farnborough, Hampshire. He rejected an appeal to release the information under freedom of information (FoI) laws, saying the public interest in revealing the cost to the taxpayer of the furnishing was outweighed by the need to protect the asylum seekers from protests and risks to their “health and safety”. link I mentioned in another thread that the immigrant bill is a damned sight higher than anyone outside of government knows. This government will increase taxes to support illegal immigrants who are pushed to the front of the queue. They just don't want you to know about it.

Starmer won because the Tories were in a mess. It was the most loveless landslide in political history. Starmer is proving to be the most incompetent prime minister since... Eden probably.

In other words the cost is being hidden by this authoritarian government because taxpayers would be up in arms over the amount of money they have paid to furnish this block of flats for asylum seekers. No checks and balances here, just spending taxpayers' hard-earned for Johnny come lately without having the courtesy to say how much of our money is being spent. Charming fuckers, eh.

They'll soon stop recording how many illegals land each day. But I think this attempt to deny keep information secret is doomed to failure. You can't keep things secret anymore.

Any aspect that involves tax payers money must be open to Freedom of Information, it's not a option to keep it secret, because the public have a financial interest in it, if you are contributing money to anything you have a entitlement to know where that money is being spent.
"The Freedom of Information Act 2000 provides public access to information held by public authorities. It does this in two ways: public authorities are obliged to publish certain information about their activities;
and
members of the public are entitled to request information from public authorities.

Some members may recall the furore that ensued some years ago during the NuLabor regime from the BNP's exposé of the government's Tenancy Agreement, a 26-page document which lists in great detail how asylum seeker accommodation was to be equipped and furnished, and how services such as periodic window-cleaning and re-decoration were to be performed.
The Home Office was particularly insistent that a full central heating system was provided, with open fires, electric fires and paraffin heaters specifically prohibited.
Little wonder the PTB will go to any lengths to avoid similar disclosures these days, even though there is no BNP around to blow thw whistle.

No one can understand why these illegal migrants are being pampered, there is no plausible explanation, people are living in damp moldy conditions and worse, but the migrants are getting fully refurbished accommodation and top notch tvs and satellite, serious questions need asking and answering, and fobbing us off is not a option.

The problem is that there are no political costs for the government in continuing to fob you off, and there is nobody of any standing to ask the questions and press for answers.

This is true, once upon a time governments were answerable to the people, there appears to be no governing body to oversee or bring governments to task, the only time we witnessed this in action was when Johnson had a sip of wine and a nibble of a cake, we witnessed to real powers behind governments, so we know the power is there when needed.
