Germany and the rest of EU are wasting their time with this loser, if he's lucky to last the full term Labour will be toast anyway.
Starmer the great statesman is a laughingstock in the UK, and a useful idiot to the EU, and once the EU cotton on any business they do with him will be undone in another 5 years when a proper Prime Minister takes over, the EU will rightfully kick Starmer to the curb, just like the UK will.

Everything said about this is prejudice. For example, people think because Labour tried to fight Brexit then it will lock us back into political union. Well nothing of the sort has happened to date, so it is all people's imagination. Starmer is going over to talk. Talking in itself between trading nations is a good thing. It's what he comes back in the bag with which we want to know about, but we know nothing. In the grand scheme of things both France and Germany are important to the UK due to the proximity and size of their economies. What we have to do post Brexit to make it work is to have friendly relations with all nations of the world, but in proportion to the size of their economy, so somewhere like Zimbabwe is low down in priority, but These two are close to the top. Germany is the manufacturer of Europe. We need them, and they need our custom. They make some damn good products too. Trade these days is becoming evermore connected in the global sense. A product often comprises components made and designed in many different countries. The easier trade can flow between the UK and Germany, the better off we will both become.

The only ones who have been unfriendly is the EU, it's their attitude always being 'my way or the highway', all they care about is their own interests they don't give a toss about the UK, they almost destabilized peace of the GFA because they wanted it all their own way.
Everyone except Starmer knows all this pally act with Germany, making Starmer feel important laying on a military show on his behalf, behind closed doors they are laughing their bollocks off at him, with words to the effect ....'this useful idiot will agree to anything, he's putty in our hands'... Starmer is more interested in cozying up with the EU than he is with any concerns or interests of the UK, while he's there he might, and I mean might just mention what's the biggest concern of the UK people .... ILLEGAL MIGRANTS, but I bet it slips his slippery mind.

Yes and it is all prejudice. We here are prejudging what he will do. He says vague things that don't mean a lot and told us what he is not going to do. I'd rather wait til he comes back and look in his bag. Macron and Scholz are both a bit double-faced. Defence is a strange one as it is all about Ukraine at the moment, but if he comes back with a way UK and Germany can trade more easily then they would be a positive thing. I'm just saying it could go either way. We could speed up customs if we computerised it a bit more, like make machines do all the hard work. Reports currently say up to 15 hr delay for passengers and longer for trade. Time is money and money is a thing the Germans are feeling short of, even more than ourselves. Their manufacturing sector is collapsing fast.

The only reason they want Starmer over there is for money, no other reason, they aren't interested in being friendly, the only thing they are interested in is how much money they can take from us, and Starmer has gone over there with a open cheque book, it's like handing your tearaway teenager your American Express card, he's spending 'other people's money' which Labour are past masters at doing, it's like putting dynamite in the hands of a fool.

I see he is acting like a civil servant jerk re the new outdoor smoking ban, as if that were the problem in the UK. Also he is embroiled in a scandal right now in a jobs for the boys and the girls. He's installed a load of corrupt political types (revolving doors/donations trick), just as Johnson did. His personal approval rating has dropped from its post-election peak down 27 points. It looks like to me he does not have much more political capital to spend. We just don't know what he will come back with. He may agree to a parity in tariffs on Chinese EVs, batteries and solar panels. This would be economically suicidal since post Brexit we can't be doing with trading good relations with one bloc by agreeing to screw another bloc. We need to trade with all blocs around the world. I mean it will be telling for sure. If he does sell us out there will be serious trouble and he might be forced to resign like Johnson. Not even the Labour Party like him that much. Every action of his will have an equal and opposite reaction.

Ha ha, that will be something new, "when the Tories get a proper PM" LOL The Tories have dominated parliament for 70% of the last 70 years, they haven't succeeded in finding one so far.

The thing is that Starmer's wasting his time talking to Germany about trade. None of the EU member nations have any control on trade. It's all handled by the EU Commission - if individual nations could involve themselves in trade talks then they'd never come to any agreement on anything. Starmer should know this as Michel Barnier (of the EU Commission) was their chief negotiator during Brexit. The Commission is actually the "government" of the EU - not the member nations. It's an unelected dictatorship.

He won't take us back into political union - that would be difficult because we'd have agree to join the euro, accept free movement and revoke all the trade deals we've done outside the EU. Even Starmer isn't mad enough to do that. But what he CAN do is agree to dynamic realignment with all EU regulations which will make the UK rule takers with no votes in the EU. BRINO effectively. It's also thought that Starmer will agree to some kind of free movement of under 30's from the EU, which is worrying. There are a lot of people who would come from the poorer EU nations (to get our benefits) and then never go home.
