Any carnival without birds like Viviane Castro (performing naked) is not worth going to. Hope the edit stops this falling foul of the forum rules.... I'd go to carnivals like that.

Used to go every year back in the 90s when my brother had a flat in Notting Hill, had an absolute blast every time, albeit my memories of those weekends were often a tad hazy 😂

Just been listening to ex Met detective chief inspector Mike Nevil talking about the Notting Hill Carnival. He is of the opinion the police definately operate two tier policing at this event because they don't want to antagonise a minority that easilly become antagonised. He said if the police used the same criteria and tactics to police the carnival as they do to police football crowds there would be many thousands of arrests.
He was asked whether the carnival in his opinion should be banned, surprisingly he said no. In Mike Nevil's opinion the carnival should be moved to a more appropriate location/venue. He said Hyde Park would be ideal, and I agree with him. However, in my opinion the reason the carnival wont be moved is because Khan and the police would probably be concerned about upsetting a minority that can become aggressive and riot. When this happens Starmer takes the knee and the inevitable inquiry blames endemic racism in the police and this nasty racist country. Which gives aggressive minorities the whip hand, again.

Seven thousand Officers will be Policing the Carnival all taken away from their normal work , all leave days off have been cancelled happens every year

A lot of areas of large towns seem to be’ cuckood’ by the more aggressive ethnic groups. Not quite no go areas but the authorities are too scared to fully take them on .

I would guess that is all the Officers the Met and other Forces from outside of London can muster or spare and perhaps keeping their own Public Disorder Units back if trouble breaks out on their own turf. Today is kids day, if it is going to kick off that will happen tomorrow, hopefully it won't happen

The Metropolitan Police have said it will be using greater search powers to prevent further violence after a man was stabbed at the Notting Hill Carnival.
The force said on Sunday night a section 60 order had been issued after a man was stabbed at the west London event.
The victim is a man, believed to be in his 20s, and his injuries are not life-threatening, the force said.
Police have made 38 arrests across the carnival and four knives have been recovered.
“While the majority at today’s event have come to enjoy themselves, a number of people regrettably have not.
“In light of the seizures of knives and the stabbing, a section 60 has been authorised for the carnival area from 6.05pm to 2am. “A section 60 gives officers greater search powers to prevent further violence.”

Just listened to someone attempting to justify the Notting Hill Carnival, he was a black chap called Leroy Logan who as it happens is also an ex Met Superintendent. It was put to him that the carnival should be banned because it costs too much and every year there are multiple stabbings and assaults. Incredibly he dismissed this by saying "there are always stabbings at large public events"! He seemed to be of the opinion that stabbings were to be expected, and to be perfectly honest, in Khans multicultural violent London, he's probably right, isn't he?

There's very few stabbings at Glastonbury. Glastonbury has been noted as being mostly white people.
