The army chaplain, named as Fr Paul F Murphy, was stabbed a number of times and is being treated for injuries that are serious but not life-threatening, gardaí said. Fr Murphy, who is in his 50s, was attacked outside the barracks at around 10.45pm and rushed to University Hospital Galway - linkThe gardai have confirmed this is being investigated as a terrorist attack. If this was in the UK, no motive would be given other than to cite mental health issues.

If it is being treated as a potential terrorist incident it seems odds on that the perpetrator will be BAME and possibly even of the Islamic faith. I am sure mental health issues will appear soon.

I hope that the chaplain recovers well.

A report on GB News said witnesses who saw the incident claimed the attacker was incoherently 'ranting' about events in the middle east.

I wonder if those nasty extreme right wingers will have the temerity to strongly suggest that this is just another example of multiculturalism not working . Maybe they could copy the method that the Muslims is used in Manchester .

Maybe they could copy the method that the Muslims is used in Manchester . If they're Irish they'll probably be listened too. Labour have a bit of a track record of bending over barrels and taking it up the shitter from one side in that dispute ...
