As a well earned jibe, Labour never learn. Anyway, the negotiations with the train drivers is a farce, 70 grand for that? and as a texter on GB news said, then all should get a pay rise like that, nurses, carers, staff of all sorts, or is it about blackmail?
Capitalism in the old days, like the grapes of wrath and the American depression, was about getting hired to pick cotton, then the employer would cut wages, if you didnt accept you were kicked out, and someone else took your place, at the lower pay.
Today, its about blackmail, no trains, no doctors etc, the difference being if whoever gets fired wont starve, the rest of us pick up the bill. The government are the employer, what they say goes, if we cant afford it, which we cant, then strikers should have their employment terminated if they dont return to work.
Yes, they should be fired, Reagan did it when he was in power even if it meant no trains, people die. Oh, they already do.
It should be made clear on all government contracts that striking is forbidden and can lead to dismissal, if you dont like it, go. The truth is that being employed by the government is a gravy train, the private sector pays for it, which means me. Pensions are gold plated, inflated to horrendous proportions. The left, in cahoots with strikers are hell bent on destroying Britain.
Like today, the train drivers, doctors. Archaic practices still exist on the railways, like guards, when trains dont need them.
Under business, not controlled by communists, the streets of britain would be paved with gold. So would rails, roofs, trees. The left condemns britain to permanent penury, like the Tories who are now left, like under Sunak, go to the pub for a meal, the government will pay.
This is of course common sense, and do you know why this is not the case today.?
Its the inherent corruption of democracy. Sunak, Starmer etc give in, kiss the as ses of whoever.
For your vote. There is no big stick, order, all is chaos for this reason, only thatcher would stick two fingers up to buying jobs.

Dead right. Labour are just paying off the unions who fund them even though it means that the private sector will have to pay for these unaffordable pay increases. And, of course, the public sector are just an overhead - they produce no revenue for the state.
But of all the public sector employees by FAR the least deserving are the train drivers. They're already vastly overpaid and the new increase, which is said to take their average pay (without overtime) to £69k means that with overtime and the many perks they get it's apparently going to be nearer £100k.
This is bad enough but the simple fact is that ANYONE can drive a train after a few weeks training. There's nothing difficult about it - unlike driving a taxi. You don't have to steer because you run on rails and you're told when to stop and start and what your maximum speed is. Automating the job of a train driver is simple and should have been done years ago.
Yet we are in the grip of a union that not only won't agree to any changes of practice but also won't agree to allow "open employment". To drive a train you need to be a union member, and the union gives priority to the relatives and friends of existing train drivers. It's called a "closed shop". It's just a gravy train.
As you say the last govt should have sacked the lot of them during Covid. No one was going on trains anyway and the govt paid vast amounts in furlough to keep the trains running. Sack them all and start again with a more reasonable pay. It's such a cushy job that there's no need to pay a lot.

Last month the government agreed to the junior doctors pay demand of 22%. In spite of this government climbdown junior doctors have not ruled out further strike action.
On Wednesday the government agreed to the train drivers 14% pay demands which will see the average driver’s salary rise from £60,000 to just shy of £70,000. In spite of this government climbdown hundreds of train drivers will walk out every Saturday from August 31 for a total of 22 days. Mick Whelan, Aslef general secretary says this dispute is separate from above mentioned dispute which has now been resolved.
The PCS union have announced that Border Force staff at Heathrow will strike from August 31st over pay and conditions, and the NEU (National Education Union) have not ruled out strike action. No doubt other public service unions are considering jumping on the bandwagon, why wouldn't they.
Where's Starmer getting all this extra money from?..

Labour rewarding its paymasters as expected (Hardly unexpected with the union plant ginger growler in as No 2 in the government cheering them on ) and the paymasters setting the agenda with seeing just how many separate strike disputes they can run with at any one time They should be fired as per Reagan

Unions, Rayner and the Corbynistas are behind this move, it's a clear attempt to discredit Starmer's power.
This is the start of Rayner's plan to oust Starmer as leader, the dope has done his job, got Labour elected, most of us predicted this, so no surprises, the only one who will be shocked is dumbo Starmer, he's one of the stupidest Prime Ministers we've ever had, and it's going to get even worse.

On Wednesday Louise Haigh Labours excuse for a transport minister who looks every inch a minister of state, complete with pink hair, was gloating that this Labour government had solved the ongoing rail issues because unlike the previous conservative government "this government puts passengers first", she said. Today, just two days later, Aslef announce new strikes from the end of this month, lol. As yet, as far as I'm aware, transport minister Louise Haigh has remained silent because she knows this government have been played by militant trade unions. What a bunch of muppets.

Today, just two days later, Aslef announce new strikes from the end of this month, lol. As yet, as far as I'm aware, transport minister Louise Haigh has remained silent because she knows this government have been played by militant trade unions. What a bunch of muppets. I read earlier that because labour's caving in to the train drivers' union is backdated, drivers who have retired or left train driving in the past couple of years will get the payout. How does that work? Labour’s deal to end years of rail strikes will include payouts for train drivers who have quit the profession.Rail workers were offered a 14pc pay rise over three years on August 14, in an effort to end two years of crippling strikes. The above-inflation increase will see the average driver’s salary rise from £60,000 to just under £70,000. However, because the pay deal is backdated from April 2022, it will also cover drivers who have left their jobs in the last two years. This bit in the same article just goes to show how stupid these labour MPs are and how they are taking the public for fools by churning out such BS and gloating that Spanish practices continue unbated The Chancellor has justified generous pay deals across the public sector by arguing fresh strikes would cost the economy more in the long run. But it has sparked fears that she will have to put up taxes in the autumn to cover the spiralling cost of the Government’s wage bill. A Department for Transport spokesman said: “Train drivers have not had a pay rise for five years. This offer costs significantly less than the economic damage strikes have caused over the previous two years. That’s not to mention the impact it has had on hard-working people’s day-to-day lives. “This government is doing the right thing by ending strikes and returning a much-needed certainty for passengers across the country.”
Capitulating to unions just means they simply come back for more, anyone with a working brain cells knows that (the following week in the case of train drivers with their new strikes announced today) www.telegraph.co.uk/money/jobs/work-benefits/starmer-pay-deal-train-driver-include-staff-quit/#:~:text=The%20above%2Dinflation%20increase%20will,in%20the%20last%20two%20years.

Yes indeed Ratcliff I did see that - 'even retired employees will get the backdated pay rise'. It's as if this government said to Aslef 'we will agree to absolutely anything if your members go back to work', and it appears they did agree to anything, which is why Aslef members are going back on strike at the end of the month, lol. This government are incompetent.
