Well this is interesting.
On 'moral' grounds the BBC is asking Huw the pedo to repay two hundred grand of salary handed to him after the arrest but before the conviction.
I thought one was innocent until found guilty.
But at what point does the guilt start
I've got some serious misgivings here.
I mean, they can ASK but if push comes to shove unless his contract states on paper that dismissal occurs from the date of arrest, or is backdated to the date the crime was committed, good luck with getting that money back. Morals have no place here do they.

He's pleaded guilty already.

The BBC were stupid enough to keep paying him. I can't see Huw paying any cash back. He's a criminal now. A convicted dirty pedo pervert. The BBC better lawyer up if they want their £200k back. The lawyers fees will be £210k

He's pleaded guilty already. Sorry Vinny I think you misunderstand what concerns me. Yes I know the moment he got dragged to court he entered a plea of guilty. That'll reduce the sentence... because if it didn't no crook ever would. I'm sure it says somewhere in my contract if employment that if they ever find the cannabis farm I'm growing I'll be sacked. But the point I was getting at was at what point does someone start to suffer the consequences of conviction, and do we apply it retrospectively. I know we don't do retrospective legislation but this is different. I see problems in backdating punishment. There was a chap who fairly recently got busted for killing his wife because the reservoir in which he sank the carpet in which he wrapped the body was drained for maintenance, revealing the remains. Should he face bankruptcy for 30 years wages paid to him while the police had no body ? Should the grandchildren of the landed gent who slaughtered the maid he fucked in 1935 have their inheritance confiscated because dad's school pal was called to a Gower cave in 1985 where cavers found her skeletal remains with bullets matching the ballistics of his pistol but by then the perpetrator was six foot under in the churchyard ?? Another confusion comes with time spent on remand. If you are arrested and remanded as a friend of mine was, and then found innocent, even if found innocent through clear incompetence on the part of 'experts' as he was, there is no compensation for wrongful detention on remand, as there is for convicts later found innocent through miscarriage of justice, yet those found guilty a year after remand and sentenced to less than two years walk free as their time on remand counts as time served.

I'm not defending Huw Edwards but until someone is sacked they are still employed and still entitled to be paid.
Otherwise, as JOG says, how far back do you go?

I like the "time spent on remand" argument. Maybe those found innocent should be given a credit note for next time they get caught.
