Well, one glance as the way the tossers at the Min of Justice run the courts will explain everything.

They demand urgent action on every case notified to them but the left wing civil service refused to require key civil servants in other departments to be available at the ministry's office hours so nothing ever gets done. In all the years she's been there Moira has never managed to assemble all the paperwork in less than twice the alloted time.

Then when the case gets to court more often than not some sharp suited defence brief finds a reason to stall the case, often because another left leaning twat has succeeded in delaying some piece of paperwork THEY say they need.

You really do have to read Liz Truss's book to understand how fucking endemic this is.

Moira is now six months off state retirement age and has had enough of it. She's basically issued an ultimatum that either they let her switch to a three day week or they can whistle and she'll piss off altogether. Moratoria on recruitment from BLAIRS time remain in place so staff are working past retirement age and gaps from death in service going back over fifteen years remain unfilled.

Courts are kept going by temping agency staff who have literally no fucking idea what they're doing

And next year there won't be anyone with the skillset needed in the immigration tribunal. The demand from shifty defence lawyers that their quite literally pox ridden client be visible in court has killed three of the staff and nearly killed Moira, and next year she and the last other remaining skilled official with expertise both hit state retirement age and both are fucking off and no one is making any plans to replace them

Someone in the higher echelons of Civil Service HR REALLY needs to be taken out and hung from a lamp post for what amounts to high treason.
