I remember the days before winter fuel payments and the elderly neighbour being hospitalised with hypothermia because she turned the heating off to save money. That's what I think.
Saved by Doctors then. And self nagrarte You are Angela Rayner and I claim my five pounds .😀

Saved by Doctors then. And self nagrarte I remember in Glasgow in the eighties , every cant and their mother had rigged meters . We had no central heating, the rooms were freezing ( I still cant have the radiator on in our room today) but the lounge and kitchen in our flat were never ever cold. the gas fire was always on , with no worries about paying the bill. What a sad indictment of. the modern world , with all this technology available , underfloor heating and much else , and people cant afford to put the heating on because of extremely damaging bills. And the Labour Party freezing pensioners . we are going backwards. no point waffling on about doctors saving people when the point which you are deliberately spectacularly missing is pensioners In the 21st century shouldn't be worrying about heating their homes never mind doctors treating them for hypothermia . ( before Wes streeting privatises the English nhs more of course) Labour have just poked a stick into a hornets nest , and I suspect this is going to bite them in the bum big time.

piss taking aside , I have no fucking clue what lefty is on about , and I suspect he doesn't either. We had this discussion though about cheap rates and how they claw the money back elsewhere when talking about night time charging for EV , with the day rate being more expensive. So I suspect the catch will be similar on these mythical gas energy deals lefty is talking about , if they exist at all. I certainly cant find any. Somewhere in that drivel he posted he seems to suggest there is a gas tariff that reduces the rate in winter . Im not aware of this but I know there is no cheap gas. TBH his sniffy remark reflects the ‘ let them eat cake ‘ attitude of the Labour leaders . thats what im saying yet again , empty claims but no link to the so called deal , just a vague mention of u switch. I cant see it. brilliant though. Sniffy labour and their let them eat cake. absolute scum of the earth .

Assistant coroner for Manchester North, Julie Mitchell, adjourned the inquest and requested statements from Ms Bolton's doctor and asked for a medical cause of death to be provided.
"Her death was particularly accelerated by hypothermia and there is a possibility of self neglect due to the lack of heating so her death has been referred to the coroner," she said.

I’m just glad that I have a multi fuel burner . It will be handy when the power cuts start too . unfortunately we dont. We moved about 7 years ago into an old bungalow , needed a lot of repairs as you can imagine , but I inherited a weird heating system , part radiator , part wet under floor heating off the gas boiler . long story short , installed gas fire , fixed heating system , and so we are stuck with it as that has already cost us thousands. was toying with the idea of having a burner put in to save money , but then the cost of living stuck , and simply couldnt afford it with all the rest of repairs , replacements and doing up garden and inside house we were faced with. would love to be completely off grid , solar panels , burners the lot , buying my own gas etc , so I could say fuck you to the government , their green shite and all the associated energy costs , but unfortunately it is just a pipe dream . folk were probably better off in my grannies day when the Coalman came round . lefty will be on here telling us labour are advising using a candle for heating light and cooking , so what are we moaning about . ? what a mental world.

Shouldn't have to have been. She should have been able to keep warm. Im back to this again £25 per week when its 0- Pensioners who learned this week that their winter fuel payments were being stopped – and anyone else who wants to cut their gas and electricity bills this winter – should consider one of the fixed-rate tariffs launched in recent days. Until now, the handful of fixed-rate energy deals offered by UK energy suppliers just haven’t been cheap enough to tempt us to recommend them. However, that has all changed because a number of suppliers have come up with tariffs that are well worth considering

We had a relatively new gas boiler and rads when we moved in nearly 3 years ago . I have a small 2 bed bungalow. I live near a forest so wood is quite cheap to buy . So we had a small burner fitted . I do feel better knowing that I can heat the home if things go pear shaped. Hopefully I will able to install a hybrid gas heater for hot water and heat pump for heating the house when combi wears out . Otherwise the hot water will be expensive and I will need a tank . When the power cuts occur in London there might be a bit of looting ..

Look at all these lefties "with high morals" defending putting two million pensioners into fuel poverty.
Labour MPs have spent the last 14 years yelling "shameful" at the Tories... then they do this for ideologic reasons.
Anybody that supports this is as dumb as somebody blaming immigrants or benefits scrougers!
Pensioners have fixed income so they are hit very hard by cuts to their income. Working people can work overtime / get a promotion / take a second job / learn a new trade / refinance when times are tough. The fact you are lumping all pensioners together is a disgrace, no doubt when they start to die in the winter you will try to blame the Tories lol.
