If the Statesman has struck a deal with Macron to return migrants back to France we are in REAL big trouble, because there will be a tradeoff for that sort of deal, fuck knows what Starmer has promised, Macron all smiles, take it from me we are in BIG trouble.

Not in France, i bet My understanding is they never left French waters so were always in France so they should always be deposited in France. It is just that Border Force vessel was first on the scene. It did seem peculiar that in the past people picked up in French waters were taken to the UK. |

That’s my understanding too, that these dinghy paddlers were still in French territorial waters. As i’m sure you know, invasion of sovereign territorial waters is entirely legit for the purpose of rescue of those in difficulty and is written into several treaties that have been around since i worked on satellite comms for maritime rescue in the 1990’s and probably existed for hundreds of years before that… Like you, my puzzlement comes from the decision of a UK border force vessel to return these people to France - the country of origin - which has been explicitly written into those GMDSS agreements since forever. We need to ask why under the tories and lib dems these measures were not used … |

There no pleasing some people A moment's pause would have allowed you to realise that for the last thirty odd years illegals - mostly black and almost all young men - have come to the outskirts of Calais and set up tented disease ridden shitholes to wait out their opportunity to break into a lorry, van, or caravan, smuggle themselves in a train or a boat and the french have done absolutely fuck all except encouraged them. Recent governments have handed the french bastard christ knows how many millions and still he has done fuck all. Given Starmer's background I say we have every right to ask what the oily, sleazy, U-Turning bastard is up to. |
