Gareth Southgate next Scotland manager?

The Jocks will be a bit wary so soon after we sent Warnock up to Aberdeen in February. They saw through that trick within a month. Now if Southgate could prise Wayne Rooney away from Argyle, we could present a ready made Manager and Assistant to the Scottish Football Association ....surely they wouldn't look such a gift horse in the mouth ? 

I am of the firm belief that if players have to be nationals of a country that should apply to the manager as well. Scotland flirted with Bertie Vogts and that did not work out well. The whole point about a National team is the National ability and the manager is integral to that outlook. Otherwise we just have National teams that are filled with foreign players and is only about money. We have seen how that outlook has effectively destroyed the 'local' teams  whereby many players had 'local' attachment to the club. Most clubs used to have a core of local lads, now succeful teams are unlikely to have many English players let alone local players.

Kyle Walker is a Brit but he does not play for Scotland. We are all Brits but we have four nations.

You may be, the reality is that we operate as separate nations in the football competitions.

Ferguson did after Jock Stein died I seem to recall. Tommy Docherty was an arguably successful English teams' manager. To be perfectly honest I cannot remember the more recent ones apart from Bertie Vogts.

Oh did fergie didnt know that like i said they couldn't polish a turd .

They had some good managers of league football but not of the national game.
