Yep, as B4 rightly says, it's mathematically unarguable that the system is heavily skewed. And it becomes more obvious to me with every election. PR has it's problems but at least it doesn't disenfrachise two-thirds of voters.

Over on the BBC that polling guru reveals the problem.
Barely 57% of voters bothered
The turnout is the worst since 2001 and to get a lower figure than Blair's outing you have to look at results all the way back to 1885

You know who never talks about vote shares? Winners. When one set of arseholes are replaced by another set of arsholes, I guarantee it won't be long before people notice. As there are also a lot more people just waiting to be proved right it will easier than ever before.

You know who never talks about vote shares? Winners. Yeah, it's our turn to sit back watching the lefties whinging and moaning when they are fucked over by Labour .... although they will still blame the Tories ... LOL

I'm just going to sit back and watch the mess ensure, sneer from the sidelines like HappyHornet & co. have down for the last 14 yrs and since the Brexit referendum.

It appears no one was totally loved by the electorate. Across GB, voting looks like a general "Anyone But The Tories" reaction, even when voting out nationalist parties. Labour looked like it stood most chance of getting the job done and, if it can get a couple of reforms under its belt — like leasehold issues, and tackling blocks to house building — it should maintain a favourable image.
PR would likely have resulted in drawn-out squabbling and compromises that would put a damper on the ability to speedily pull the UK out of the economic mire that it's population currently finds itself in...

I wonder what the result would be if there was the French system with run-offs in constituencies where nobody got over 50%.

I'm thinking of going into hibernation. While I know it's coming, I don't think I want to witness this island heading into the final stages of third world status. I recommend living life, maybe see more of the world while you still can.

"The gap between the share of total votes won by the winning party in the 2024 general election and the share of Parliamentary seats won is the largest on record, BBC Verify has found...
...The Electoral Reform Society claimed it was “the most disproportional in British electoral history”.

You're like a football fan who's team got tonked 5-0 saying really your team won because they had more possession and corners. Look where Labour were when Starmer took over, this is nothing less than a stunning victory for Labour and a generational disaster for the Tories.
