Even that is a misnomer. The BofE  is a regulatory authority acting as LOLR for UK banks. And even that is a misnomer as government do not have money. The LOLR is the UK tax payer. Thats me. And the BofE only holds some £200 billion in gold reserves.  Some 10% of that Scottish.  That would not even cover bankrupts England's local authority debt on PFI alone.  As the English cannot live within their means. Not to mention.  That is only as good as the last crash.  And you and I are still paying for that. Up and coming, Covid and Brexit not included.  About to prevail. .

Scotland in terms of countries is England's largest trading partner with exports to Scotland greater than to Brazil, South Africa, Russia,. India, China and Japan put together. The jock haters are suggesting that some future arsehole English chancellor is going to put millions on the dole in England and destroy £180 billion worth of trade between the 2 nations, as they rant Scotland wants to leave England. .
