A letter in today's Scotsman from Drew Scott, Professor of European Union Studies at the University of Edinburgh, backs up a blog on Thursday from SNP activist and EU law graduate Stephen Noon by noting that regardless of current rules which say new members must join the currency, the EU also stipulates that no member can do so without first being a member of the Exchange Rate Mechanism for two years.
ERM participation, however, is not compulsory for new members. And therefore any country joining the EU – whether as a successor state or from scratch – which doesn't want to join the Euro can simply elect to remain outwith the ERM, and therefore put off joining the Euro indefinitely. Noon points to the specific chapter and verse in EU regulations, and Professor Scott backs his conclusion. Scotland CAN join the EU but stay out of the Euro. The argument would seem to be over.

Sweden european member state since 1995 still uses its own currency instead of Euro.

on top of that , it repeats what i have posted above if you actually read it.
Let me help.
All nations are required to join the Euro.................(the bit the express printed)
( the bit they didnt print)..........provided they meet the criteria of the ERM first.

Well I doubt they've just made it up, there are names to it.
The MP for Moray said: "Nicola Sturgeon's plan for separation is in tatters."
The EU's own membership terms dealt a further blow to Ms Sturgeon's plan.
It said: "All EU member states, except Denmark, are required to adopt the euro and join the euro area."
Brussels has pushed EU-27 member states to adopt the single currency since Brits voted for Brexit in 2016.

I wouldnt pin any hopes on wee dougie ross if i were you mate , sturgeon just eviscerated him in the scottish parliament .

Who can join and when?
All EU Member States, except Denmark, are required to adopt the euro and join the euro area. To do this they must meet certain conditions known as 'convergence criteria'.

Do you know who duncan hothersall is pacifico? he is a labour party member and political activist , general all round fanny , and also an extreme pro european who wants to drag your country back into the EU .
I might disagree with you on scotindy possibly , but at least we both respect democracy unlike duncan hothersall.
He was championing the overturning of brexit for three years , and still remains the same.
