I live in a marginal constituency and every GE it's a straight shoot-out between the Tories and the Lib Dems.
The Tory encumbent, who enjoyed a fairly substantial majority, is stepping down to be replaced as candidate by a long-standing Tory councillor.
Which is fair enough.
But we've seen neither hide nor hair of the new Tory candidate. No door-stepping, no local appearances, not even so much as a leaflet through the door.
Indeed, I had to Google it just to find out who the Tory candidate was.
Meanwhile, we've got Lib Dems virtually banging the door down and stuffing the letterbox on a daily basis. In terms of effort, the Lib Dems deserve to win. Shame their candidate is a complete arse.
But the Tories are making zero effort in one of the few areas where they still have a fighting chance.

I think with funds a bit light the tories are having to target which seats they are going to try and save . That your MP is stepping down and being a marginal its one they have given up on

Even when Boris was still PM, Tories with massive majorities were having them overturned by the LibDems in by-elections ...... and when we consider things may even have got slightly worse under Rishi ..... I imagine that other than indicating to a few mates and acquaintances to pile a few hundred quid onto the LibDem winning the seat, a good many Tory candidates are sat at home quietly with a whisky waiting for the axe to fall on Thursday, rather than being out knocking on doors so that they can soak up some last minute abuse.
When you know your Leader has given up, has his bags packed, and mostly likely already house-hunting online for America, the lack of motivation to chase a lost cause will be evident in the ranks

Same here - the LibDems are stuffing their leaflets through the letterbox on a weekly basis. We have had one from the Tory candidate and nothing from Labour or anyone else.
Currently looking like our Tory MP is out on his ear to be replaced by the LibDem guy.

You only need to see the constituencies that Sunak and Starmer are visiting to see that they both believe the polls are correct.

Leaflets have come from labour, Tory, lib dem and plaid. No reform leaflet but then the local post office are scum who don't deliver every candidates leaflet.
No sign of any activists
No sign of any posters on stakes
I think people fear bricks through windoes

I've had 4 from labour , 3 from the limps , 1 conservative and none from reform , there's an independent who is very active on local social media Boundaries here in Staffs are redefined but it still should be a Conservative walk in

I haven't seen any Tory campaigning or leaflets here either. Labour doesn't use absorbent paper so I can't even wipe my backside on their candidates.
At least there's less paper waste under a single party state. Less bullshit, too.
