I think the thread is wrongly named, a million these days is not that much surely we mean multi-millionaires. The survey is based on those with a million dollars (US) investible income - if those are leaving in droves then you can be sure the multi-millionaires have already gone (or have restructured their finances to reduce any tax owed).

In London it is quite possible to inherit a house close to a million.

He came here without money, lost work, ended up destitute on the streets and died impaled on railings with Londoners just walking past ignoring him and not even bothering to see if he was ok. What colour Londoners ? A scenario such as you describe would be unthinkable as late as 1994 These days they'd stop only to pick his pockets

IMO for a long time if the people with money think Labour may or will win the GE they get their money out of the UK as fast as possible, what I cannot understand id Labour claim they will tax Non Doms who have money outside of the UK income overseas, how can they possibly do that ? Presumably the same way they tax Non Non Doms. If you live in this country you are taxed on your income. You are taxed by the Country your income is generated in. Those who can claim Non Dom Status in the UK approved by HMRC pay a yearly fee set by HMRC

There is now a much bigger fear in France that millionaires will leave due to the left coalition massively hiking tax.

More than 2000 French Jewish families have requested "Aliyah" in Israel in the past 48 hours. How much wealth is associated with these families is unknown. This is mostly due to the rise of the anti-Semitic left in France along with post election uncertainty.

I would expect to see similar numbers of British Jews doing the same given the explosion of antisemitism we have seen in recent months and which is on parade every Saturday.

The exodus increases...
The number of UK millionaires is expected to shrink by 17pc between 2023 and 2028, according to Swiss investment bank UBS, which published its research just days after Sir Keir Starmer’s landslide victory.
