Ukip's current leader Lois Perry chucks in the towel
Admittedly she is jumping ship for health reasons, describing her as having been "near death" through hospitalisation for "pneumonia"
It's not been the easiest of rides for Alen Sked's baby has it.
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/UK_Independence_Party shows the party vanishing from the heights it achieved under "preposterous mountebank" Nigel Farage to near bankruptcy and obliteration of political representation with the final removal of the (allegedly) bribe-trousering Neil Hamilton from his regional seat on the welsh gravy train.
Now may be the moment for the wreckage that Farage parachuted out of to finally crash and burn.

What's the point of an independence party after the country has become independent? At least Reform rebranded and took a new name. They didn't and it has cost them.

Farage rebranded himself with a new political party engineered as a one control freak band, as I've explained elsewhere, Yiu can vote for the Reform Party, you can donate to it, but youcan never "join" it in the way you can join say labour or conservative or indeed most other parties and become an integral part of them. Having seen Farage almost derailed by several UKIP members and candidates i'm not surprised he created a party he can maintain total control of.
In the absence of a way forward, UKIP has simply imploded. I don't blame the recent ex-leader for this, she only took the helm after even Hamilton came to conclude there was no way to continue trousering funds and got the hell out before the auditors come

Neil Hamilton exterminated what remained of the party in Wales, going all out to milk it for personal reward. Eventually he resigned this year having lost his assembly seat a while back.

I was a member for near on 10 years and let my membership lapse after the referendum . We seemed to have a new leader every week at one point some worse than others as they tried to find a new identity but in reality became a laughing stock with a conveyor belt of political pygmy's attempting to become driver of the UKIP bus .
This will probably be their last election , as said there is not a lot of point of continuing , the job was done in 2016.

The other point of course being if there is work to be done as a result of various people dragging their feet it’s far more likely to be Nigel’s new offering …

At least you know with Farage that if you give him the platform he will keep talking
