IF - and its a big IF, a leadership challenge was triggered, then Angela Rayner would probably not even get her name on the list of nominations, simply because there would almost certainly not be enough MPs of the far Left, or the "orthodox socialist Left" to support her nomination. Some Constituencly Labour Parties are more to the Left ( a minority ), but most CLP's are pragmatic and understand reality. In the 2020 leadership election, Keir Starmer gained well over twice as many CLP votes than the Left wing candidate Rebecca Long Bailey. |

Well bearing in mind that leadership candidates MUST be nominated by Labour MPs And bearing in mind that after the general election, something like 90% of Labour MPs will not be of the far Left or "militant" Left, how do you think that Angela Rayner or someone similar could become leader. ? Don't confuse the poor dears with such an analysis. Their heads will explode. There are no far left or militant left MPs by the way, just a few genuinely left ones. But I know what you mean. However we describe them, they simply don't have the numbers. And in the wider party membership there has been a mass exodus of the left so the left lacks the numbers there too. Most of us, who once put our hopes in the Labour party, have given up on Labour for good. Those trying to put out the idea of a left wing takeover once Labour gets in are almost wholly talking out of their arses. LOL! |
