And this is IMO linkI alluded to this type of action in another post on the post office and the blood scandal, not on the same scale but it is imo an abuse of power.

I'm pretty amazed by the pathetic mindset that prosecutes people for NOT littering the streets. That council is pathetic.

Absolute madness, this council like many councils it would seem are bereft of common sense. Everything we throw away with a name or address on it goes through the shredder, and Mrs R knows I'm absolutely shit hot on this. Nothing goes in the bin unless it's shredded first.

Yes do the same shred anything shreddable except those plastic delivery bags they clog up the shredder so rip off the address bit and burn it.

I'd love to be prosecuted for something like this. I'd have a field day in court.

Once they've got the facial-recognition cameras up and running everywhere they can dispense with street litter bins.

I'm banned for life from all Sainsbury's on planet Earth and the Universe. Their self-service till failed to produce a receipt. When I told the staff guy in charge he said I hadn't paid. The (Nigerian) manager appeared ... waved the card reader in front of my face and said: "Can you read this?" I took off my glasses, waved them in front of his face and said: "Not when you wave it in front of my face". I followed up with "You're the Oga?" (Nigerian for "Bossman"). He startled, raise his hand ... and I got jumped from behind by 2 security guys ... who lifted me off my feet and carried me out the door. I contacted the CEO about the incident ... and was told: "We trust our managers!" .. and he banned me from all Sainsbury's stores ... "unto eternity".
The day after the incident one of the security guys who'd jumped me saw me outside a nearby Starbucks and apologised to me. He said the staff were "not happy" with the behaviour of the (Nigerian) manager. I went back to the store and the senior security guy gave me a tenner to cover the cost of what I'd paid for but had to leave behind. I was still banned though ... the CEO refused to investigate ... despite getting a letter from a witness and my explaining that I could prove I'd paid by card.
This manager was very diligent ... elderly and disabled customers were more likely to shoplift ... so he had staff follow them around the store ... and even inspect their bags after they'd been through checkout.

Only in some Retail Shops or possibly private buildings to try and stop losses by Thieves put in place by Private Companies, the Police are conducting trials with it which as I have stated earlier works quite well but not a permanent basis as yet, which may happen or may not

Before I retired almost five years ago I spent the last 10 years as an Environmental Enforcement Officer with a London Council, I was too busy dealing with Fly Tipping tonnes of the ruddy rubbish by residents and commercial outlets which cost the local Council Taxpayers a fortune to remove from the streets and alleyways. No way would we have time to root through street litter bins for a ruddy envelope, had it been me that had a found it I would not have issued an FPN or even sent them a letter telling them not to do it again, but there are lots of Jobsworths out there, sadly Common Sense is not as Common as it used to be
