Just been announced that ministers are cutting short/cancelling trips and appointments in order to attend an emergency cabinet meeting. Speculation is rife, obviously, but at least some political commentators are asking or suggesting that a July general election may be called. Personally I favour Nov, we'll see. Exiting stuff lol.

From a friend...
1) They can go on about 2.3% inflation, stick to the plan, don't let Labour ruin it (it's utter rubbish of course)
2) Because of the blood scandal, borrowing costs being 4th highest on record, much less fiscal room for tax giveaway gimmicks
3) Service inflation being stubbornly high at 5.9% means therefore hopes of interest rates falling soon have decreased, therefore the longer they wait, the more people will still go onto very high mortgage rates
4) If a plane goes in the air during the election campaign to Rwanda, they can try and get a few Reform voters back
5) MP after MP are announcing theyre standing down
6) The hope for a good feel factor if England do well in Euro 2024
I'm not saying it's definite or anything, but we should be ready
Oh and a 7) University students will be in between locations or on holiday, reducing their likelihood to vote
I.e. 4th July perhaps

Interesting stuff^. No news as yet, I'm on tenterhooks lol.
Just heard the emergency cabinet meeting was due to start at 2.15pm, a few minutes ago, and minsters have been told not to respond to any questions.

What's exciting about that?
Replacing one set of shitheads with another, virtually indistinguishable set?
Nah, not seeing it myself.

There is usually a 5 to 6 weeks period between announcing a general election and the election actually taking place.
If there is an announcement today, my guess is that the election will take place on July 4th, but of course we shall see.

New Labour or Blue Labour - who cares?

Defence secretary Shapps postpones trip, foreign secretary Cameron recalled from Albania, Ministers told not to answer any questions, Downing street press office apparently locked down and not answering the phone... somethings afoot.

And Prime Minister Starmer isn't talking either.
Whoops, was I not supposed to say that?
