Well not quite. You see, politicians are here today, gone tomorrow. But we still have to run the country. And we have to do so according to the rules the politicians have set down.
And politicians are extremely good at blaming us for following their rules.
If they want us to do things differently then they need to change their rules/the law to enable that to happen.
Applying the same rules and expecting a different result is madness.
Some government departments like HMRC the Home Office should be independent of serving governments, being run by the left or right wing governments causes conflict of interest, you will have lefties not wanting to take orders from the right wing governments and vise versa.
Time to cut them lose from political binds, these departments are far too important to be playing politics.
I agree that they should be independent but then they'd still be run by the Civil Service.
We're not a bunch of lefties (in my department, very few are) the facts are that the government sets down the regulations/laws and we have to follow them.
If the government want things done differently then they just need to change those regulations/laws. It really is that simple.
But it's easier for them to blame us for their bad regulations/laws than it is for them to sort their own shit out.
And that goes whether they're Labour or Tories. They are all shit.
