Slovakia's prime minster Robert Fico has been shot and injured, according to reports. The incident took place in the town of Handlova, some 150 kilometres north east of the capital Bratislava, according to the news television station TA3. It was first reported that Fico was not seriously injured in this shooting. It has now been reported that he is in a critical condition. I have to say, I'm surprised the shooter wasn't shot. He was jumped on and handcuffed, but security clearly had handguns drawn.

Politics aside, there's only one acceptable way in a democracy to get rid of a leader, and that's the ballot box.
Political violence is only ever necessary against dictatorships.

One thing is for sure, no one can suspect Putin of having anything to do with this. Fico was anti EU/Nato and pro Putin.
The chap who shot Fico is described as very pro EU, a well known author, and 'progressive liberal'.
It must be said assassinating, or attempting to assassinate a prime minister, doesn't appear to be all that progressive or liberal.

There are already conspiracy theories over who would want him dead:
1. He ordered a criminal investigation in government over Covid and the jabs.
2. He will veto Ukrainian membership of the EU if it ever gets that far.
3. He has refused quotas of immigrants.
4. He recently told the WHO he would not be signing up to their Big Pharma inspired nonsense.
I suspect the 71 year old attempted killer has is on a hit job. But who for?

Slovakia is a very deeply dividied society
Mr Fico is regarded as been Pro-Russia, will not send any military help to Ukraine, will veto Ukraine's membership of both NATO and the EU.
I dont like his views, but resorting to violence is not the answer in a democracy
