She didn't touch the cyclist. As Mrs Ward approached her, the appellant gesticulated towards her, waving her leftarm. She shouted at Mrs Ward: “Get off the fucking pavement.” She continued to walktowards Mrs Ward who fell off her bicycle into the road and into the path of a car whosedriver had no chance to stop or take actionAs the Barrister said: “Hostile gesticulation is not a crime, otherwise we would have 50,000 football fans each weekend being apprehended.” The CCTV footage certainly looks as if she was pushed. I suppose the only person who could confirm or deny, is dead. Looking at the video, it looks like Grey turned with her raised hand towards the cyclist, causing her to swerve onto the road and fall off her bicycle. Even not knowing if the pathway was shared between pedestrians and cyclists doesn’t remove Grey the responsibility for the harm to the cyclist…

But one thing is for sure, there is one fact. Whether by design or not, Auriol Grey caused the death of 77 year old Celia Ward.

Bullshit. Whether she touched the cyclist or not is a moot point, and tbh largely irrelevant. The fact is and it is a fact, Auriol Grey went out of her way to stop Celia Ward cycling past her. CCTV footage clearly shows there was plenty of room for a cyclist to pass but Grey was so enraged that a cyclist was on 'her' pavement that she intentionally blocked Celia Ward's passage, possibly by force, which resulted in Celia Ward's death. As I said previously, Auriol Grey got off lightly with three years. But to have her conviction quashed is a slap in the face to the victims family. Soft on crime, hey it's what we are used to these days.

Many pavement cyclists can't safely operate their brakes. Twice recently cyclists have come round corners, found me in their way ... and fallen off their bikes. They are on the pavements because they have no road sense and lack the skills needed to move fast on the road ... so they move fast on the pavement. Someone coined the term "Mind pollution" to describe the effect of having a speeding pavement cyclist pass from behind. Police are only allowed to attempt to stop cyclists on the pavement if they are moving slowly.
I told a cyclist who passed close to me from behind without warning. then had to stop at a crossing: "You passed too close to me mate ... too fast. If I'd have moved sideways you could have run into me, fallen off your bike and broken your neck. You need to be careful". There were several other people waiting to cross but he swore at me ... so I called him an idiot. He made as if to "go for me". He got really "enraged". On another occasion when I called out to a cyclist: "Too close mate" he stopped ... and waited for me ... with a menacing look on his face. I stopped ... after a few seconds he decided to ride on ... as he did so he called out "Fucking cunt!"
There's too many cyclopaths on our pavements.
Auriol Grey's eyesight was such that she may not have been able to judge the cyclist's speed ... I often can't. I sometimes don't realise they are cyclists until they are "on top of me".

Soft on crime, hey it's what we are used to these days. I disagree no cyclist over the age of 12 years is allowed to cycle on the public footpath unless a dedicated visible cycle lane is in place, no matter what pedestrians have the right of way at all times. All the cyclist had to do to avoid a dangerous section of road is get off and push their bike along the pavement until safe to ride on on the highway. Due to the rise in people cycling some are being killed or injured sad to say by drivers of vehicles, but the numbers of pedestrians being hit injured or killed by cyclist is rising. Some cyclists are very aggressive, they ride through red lights, on the pavements, down one way streets the wrong way, total disregard for the Highway Code they are a danger to pedestrians and themselves
