About time. It always was a travesty and the original judge needs to be shot.

I disagree, Auriol Grey hurled foul mouthed abuse at Celia Ward aged 77, before pushing her into the road directly into the path of oncoming traffic, which killed her. She didn't do it accidentally, she knew exactly what she was doing.
In my opinion: firstly, the initial sentence of three years was unduly lenient, and secondly, the manslaughter conviction should not have been overturned.

It's another case of a disabled aggressor playing the victim and getting away with it (on a legal technicality this time - the judge apparently misdirected the jury according to the article) , she knew exactly what she was doing .

Indeed Ratcliff. Another case of the courts being soft on crime/criminals.

She didn't touch the cyclist.
As Mrs Ward approached her, the appellant gesticulated towards her, waving her left arm. She shouted at Mrs Ward: “Get off the fucking pavement.” She continued to walk towards Mrs Ward who fell off her bicycle into the road and into the path of a car whose driver had no chance to stop or take action
As the Barrister said: “Hostile gesticulation is not a crime, otherwise we would have 50,000 football fans each weekend being apprehended.”

I suppose the only person who could confirm or deny, is dead.

The bottom line is that she shouted at a cyclist who shouldn't have been on the pavement.
The outcome was tragic but that was hardly foreseeable by Ms Grey and certainly not a crime.
(As I also said at the time).
BTW, Wheiney agreed with you - a pretty much certain sign of being wrong.

In general I'd agree with you. But in this case I believe that Ms Grey was only convicted due to her disability. Had she been able to express herself in the way that most of us would I very much doubt that she would have been convicted in the first place.

The only person who could confirm or deny, is dead. As an aside; at our previous house, and I'm going back 11 years, but at our previous house I always rode my bike on the footpath to get to the woods because it was too dangerous to ride on the road and I did occasionally get into a row with stroppy pedestrians who for some reason thought I should risk life & limb cycling on the road. This was probably because a six foot wide pavement, as I pointed out on more than one occasion, wasn't quite wide enough for someone who should have a wide load sign strapped across her fat arse. And it was always women, I never once had a barney with a bloke.

Well apart from the whole thing being captured on CCTV and not showing it... Tell me: How do you reconcile those views with your newfound, habitual snowflakery?

Looking at the video, it looks like Grey turned with her raised hand towards the cyclist, causing her to swerve onto the road and fall off her bicycle. Even not knowing if the pathway was shared between pedestrians and cyclists doesn’t remove Grey the responsibility for the harm to the cyclist…
