The civil service union has started legal action against the government over its plan to detain asylum seekers and fly them to Rwanda. The FDA union will try and take ministers to court over the legislation, which was passed by parliament last week after weeks of back and forth between MPs and the Lords. The union is worried about what would happen if civil servants were told by ministers to break international law when carrying out the deportations. Under the Civil Service code, government employees have a duty to abide by the law and union bosses think the government has created a conflict of interest if civil servants are ordered to disregard a ruling by the European Court of Human Rights. www.independent.co.uk/news/uk/home-news/civil-service-rwanda-bill-legal-action-b2538028.htmlThe left wing civil service taking the government to court over government policy! And this is under a Tory government. Can you imagine what it's going to be like under a pro EU, pro mass immigration, Labour government? God help us.

This is abuse of the democratic process in my opinion. Same as the rabble in Peckham committing criminal damage and assault to thwart due process. As I said in another thread, In Britain we seem to have the criminal/authorities balance all wrong.

So you want civil servants to brake the law . No, I want them to be fired. If the government can ignore the ECHR, and clearly Sunak said they can, and will, then it's not up to the left wing civil service to say the government is wrong. The lot of them should be fired.

Perhaps another thing in which the British should be following the German lead.

It's break, not brake, and I want Civil Servants to abide by Parliamentary Law whether they believe in it or not. However their actions are promoting anarchy.

So you want civil servants to brake the law . I wonder if Squeezed Middle has a opinion on his Unions actions in this matter . Not my union, doofus. But yes there have been occasions when I've had to challenge unlawful (or contrary to their own policy) orders from clueless management.
That said, in this case it would appear that the governments requested actions have been thoroughly legally tested and so this rabble should just get on and do their jobs. Twats.

The legal tussle between Sunak's law and the ECHR law, has to be sorted out one way or the other.

Kerching!👍 Yep says the man of Principal lol Is it a different union your a Nember of? I'm a member of a very powerful union that practically owns the Labour Party so they will acquiesce to our demands.
