The Shadow Financial Secretary would not match the PM's pledge to increase defence spending
The Shadow Financial Secretary has refused to commit to the Prime Minister’s pledge to increase defence spending to 2.5% of GDP by 2030. James Murray told GB News: You're absolutely right, that we want to get to 2.5%. [But refused to commit to it] What we said is that in order to set out the pathway of how we get there, we need to be in government... we will initiate a Strategic Defence and Security Review, to establish the threats to work out what we need to invest in to keep the nation safe.www.gbnews.com/politics/labour-shadow-minister-refuses-defence-spending-targetLet me tell you what will happen under a Labour government. They will indeed initiate a Strategic Defence and Security Review, and as most people will know, an SDSR review means defence cuts. They always have. But Labour will say, cutting defence will not affect national security due to increased military cooperation with the EU. Trust me posters, the EU have always wanted their own army and pro EU Labour will grab it because it's the cheap option. Watch this space.
