The lib Dems have always used local elections in attempt to build a strong base going into General elections .They know local issues are important sometimes more than National ones to a lot of people .
So its not a bad idea ,the trouble is they pick the wrong local issues ,they pick the ones THEY think are important rather than the ones that are important to residents .
Around here the council candidates that are never elected carry on as if they have been and just come across as busy bodies without a cause .Nationally they are no worse than anyone else but that's a pretty low bar that can only be raised by a party 3 miles right of the current lot that's in charge

We have a Fib Dim council and they manage a perfect blend of arrogance and ignorance. "We're doing what we like and who cares what anyone thinks" seems to be their mantra. And then of course they fuck it all up.
So if thinking local is their grand plan, I can't see it working out too well for them.
