The article is misleading. While it's true the man argued the mental health point, he did not succeed. He was allowed to stay because of the risk of torture/inhumane treatment meted out to draft dodgers. This, believe it or not, is in line with Government policy. I doubt the UK would deport someone in those circumstances, ECHR or no ECHR. In my opinion, people who are subject to deportation orders for criminal offences and remain a risk to the public should remain detained for the maximum term applicable (life in this case) until they are deported or cease to be a risk. Probably not a runner without rehabilitation schemes, but I suspect there'd be far fewer appeals against deportation. The article isn't misleading at all. He is an Eritrean draft dodger and a child rapist who thanks to left wing lawyers and ridiculous legislation designed to protect foreign criminals will spend the rest of his life, probably on benefits, living in this country. He and many others should be deported, at gunpoint and in handcuffs if necessary. There is no question but that the article is misleading.
Not that I'm happy having a rapist who remains a risk to the public here.

If these bastards are jailed they only end up in state owned knocking shops.....So where exactly is the deterent for rape and murder?.......It’s always the case so prison isn‘t likely to be any different. The presenting officers who go into court to argue against these lawyers have little or no training. The home office 15 years ago had regular removal flights back to countries. It’s virtually unheard of for flights and it’s been like this for the past 20 years. Blimey, a rare occasion when we agree. I don't know why these repatriation flights have gone down, but feel that it would have been an easier win for the government than the Rwanda debacle. I suspect that you're right, slimming down the office and employing temps is probably the reason. P&O management skills. |
