Why woulda Scot require a UK passport to entera foreign country? LOL.......... the SNP really haven't told you the truth ... have they.
If Scotland became independent from England there would be a 'hard border' set up, wee Krankie woman when questioned always replied ........ "We'll sort that out".
NO you fuckin wont, Scotland go independent there will be a hard border, no ifs, no buts ......... Hard border .......PASSPORT control.
You mean like between Eire and the UK?

You mean like between Eire and the UK? The sole purpose of a Independent Scotland (which has been made abundantly clear, Sturgeons dream) that if they get their independence then they will start the ball rolling to join the EU, maybe if they were just independent of the England well maybe no hard border, but absolutely if they join the EU, it will be a hard border no ifs no buts.

The Republic of Ireland signed the Common Travel Area treaty in 1923. The Irish Free State came into being in 1922.
A separate Scotland would have to negotiate and sign a Common Travel Area Treaty. It would not be an instant ratification. Nor would there be an immediate FTA. There would immediately be a hard customs border, customs tariffs, passport controls etc. Not only that but all vehicles registered with the DVLA would need re-registering.
The entire framework of government including the civil service would require duplication at huge cost to Scotland.
Barnett formula tax subsidies from England would cease.

The idea of a hard border between England and Scotland is quite fanciful, for the reason that there are far too many Scottish people or people of Scottish ancestry / family living in England, and also vice-versa.
The people would not allow it, it would be a vote loser amongst millions who not only have family connections on both sides of the border, but have also become used to free movement / travel between the two, including millions of people who enjoy holidaying on the other side of the border.
Personaly I see no prospect of Scottish independence, the SNP are in trouble and people are turning to the Lib Dems and Labour, with some going for the Conservatives for mostly Unionist reasons, rather than political reasons.

If Scotland gained independence and if they joined the EU, then Brussels would demand a hard border. Lot of 'if's' though..
