Russians have been known to hack shit for years. The other one which is notorious is the Dutch. The thing is you are so obsessed with Russia and China you don't realise a lot comes from Holland. The Dutch can be right dishonest bastards. I think you will find the Chinese pretty well behaved. For a start not a lot of Chinese use the Western Internet. Their system is almost like a separate internet, where you need a VPN to access Western sites. Apart from that being technically illegal, most sites have a security system where they have a look-up list of IPs used by VPN, and so you can't even create an account with one. The I'm not a robot screen picks it up. Also in China the Chinese like the British and respect them. It's far more likely to be Russian because the UK has stuffed them badly.

Dutch hackers have no motive beyond economic theft. Dictatorship hackers have motive, disruption of criticism, and data theft. China has monumental censorship and the commoners are not allowed to know about the 1989 protest & massacre in Tiananmen Square.

Dutch hackers have no motive beyond economic theft. Dictatorship hackers have motive, disruption of criticism, and data theft. China has monumental censorship and the commoners are not allowed to know about the 1989 protest & massacre in Tiananmen Square. Yes that day was known in China as Internet Maintenance Day. Generally speaking though the censorship is not that bad. The main reason they have it is to silence political dissident groups. No one in China is allowed to challenge the authority of the government, and how they explain it is the government is a people's government, so if you fight the government you are fighting the people. 1989 is believed to have been an operation which was backed by Western intelligence, so it was a direct assault on the governance of China and risked the stability of the entire country. Even Deng Xiaoping reluctantly agreed the measures to protect the state were necessary, albeit very regrettable. However at the time the leadership was split between hardline old guard communists, and the new liberal reformers. The hardliners were bad news, and as time went on they faded into history and retired. You see the government was changing from a military-led regime into a modern liberal state. The process of liberalisation continues even today. They do it slowly and one step at a time.
Anyhow, today some 90% back the government and most are keen supporters, and won't have you say anything bad about them. Insulting their government is taken like a personal insult. As for the rest of what you can say, it does not feel like there is censorship. I did speak to my brother's wife about the past in China and she said, there are some things in China we don't talk about. Her view though is this country is a bloody failure and she thinks China is great. I guess it is hard to imagine how Chinese think, but she is happy. She spends most of her day chatting on her phone in Chinese to the friends back home. She has been really helpful towards my family as well.

Excuses excuses. Mass murder occurred in the streets. There are no excuses.
Stop defending a blood thirsty dictatorship. The fact that they produce cheap tat does not excuse their crimes against humanity. Fuck the Communist Party of China. Fuck Xi Jinping.

Is this the work of an April fool, or SteveK's authority?

What amazes me is someone on here actually thinks a proboards discussion forum is actually targetted for a takedown because of what someone has posted on it. Let alone someone on this forum posted something that was the target.
That "bear attack" 404 page comes up every other month, and speaking as someone who actually puts food on the table as a result of working in IT, it is my PROFESSIONAL opinion "downtime" as seen by anyone is actually a direct result of the server operator doing some sort of upgrade.
Get over yourselves, people. Jeez

The forum went offline citing an ‘upstream error’ last night for several hours.
On popping over to the support forum i found dozens of admins and users reporting forums offline
I think someone unplugged something.
But tgen i’m a big fan of the cockup theory … having seen too many first hand
