DUBLIN, March 20 (Reuters) - Irish Prime Minister Leo Varadkar is to stand down from the position, and also relinquish his role as the leader of the governing Fine Gael party, the Irish Independent reported on Wednesday. Varadkar will hold a press conference at 1200 GMT on Wednesday. Right now actually... www.reuters.com/The EU will be gutted.

I knew he had Asian ethnicity yet today heard he was also gay and then the penny dropped.
He recently tried to get a bill passed about new citizens rights including being tran and gay friendly, you can bet it was his personal flag bill yet the public were not interested in it and it failed.
Immigration and housing seem to be key issues there not how you want to identify.
Interesting to see who takes up the position next.

The referendum-defeat was a humiliation for the entire Irish political elite both the government and the opposition.

The referendum-defeat was a humiliation for the entire Irish political elite both the government and the opposition. Funny thing for me is Ireland was another state held as an example of welcoming asylum seekers unlike us,even had Irish people say they were more progressive about such things and that was down to no longer being ruled by the English . Well the welcome didn’t last did it? Movement of people not climate change the big issue imo.

The writing was on the wall for this bastard when the Irish started chanting "Get them out". Varadker's "progressive" policies were on the way out.
But he'll be given a cushy job in the EU Commission on a huge salary with no tax and a vast expense account. He's earned it because of all the difficulties he made for the UK over Brexit.

Good riddance. Smug git.
Now he'll probably join the trough in Brussels as steppen said.

Varadkars popularity has been nose diving for years. He was far more concerned with appeasing Brussels than listening to the concerns of Irish voters who are sick of immigration. It's the same story across Europe, for obvious reasons the EU aren't talking about it, but people are sick to death of having mass immigration forced upon them.

I see Varadkars replacement is likely to be Simon Harris, currently Ireland's Minister for Further and Higher Education, and a hard line pro EU fanatic. I doubt that will go down very well with the electorate, we'll see.

Why should they worry? Ireland is very pro EU.

Why should they worry? Ireland is very pro EU. Ireland's anti-immigration backlash has spiralled into country-wide unrest. Protests, arson attacks and hardening anti-immigration views have transfused Irish politics with a fervour not seen since the Troubles. linkJust because politicians, the EU and the BBC aren't talking about it, doesn't mean it's not happening. Immigration is very unpopular in Ireland.

The EU put their new ‘diversity’ shoe-in into Wales instead … a stronger position to break up the UK.
… they are not worried about this resignation … they lost their Kranky ally in Scotland … but Wales is now snowballing with immigrants and English Leftists now … determined to break up our Union … give a divide and conquer victory to the EU.
As true Welsh interests and self-protectionism is compromised by these border-breaking invasions … the Welsh need to get rid of their new leader … a ‘race card’ opportunist as soon as possible … by fair means or foul.
… the integrity of their country depends on it.
The nodding EU-servile dogs in the Welsh Parliament are preparing to sell indigenous Welsh communities into EU slavery and subservience … all over a few cheap EU handouts.
Wake up, Wales … the EU has come for your SOULS … and will divide and destroy your Culture and Independence. … worse than the English did! … in exactly the same way they are destroying Europe today. Immigrant insurgency and Muslim rioting engineered by EU Zionism ….will soon be on the streets of Cardiff, Dublin. Belfast and Edinburgh …Wait and see.
