That seems to be a contradictory statement. Leaving the EU has made no difference at all to Airbus wing production at Chester, you are right in as much as the EU are milking it with red tape, but that only demonstrates we were right to leave. It's just two true statements. I do admit energy was a big factor in the decision. In China they have a separate ecosystem of industry from the mining of the iron ore to the making of cheap steel (lot of energy) to fashioning it into components. They also have a great transport infrastructure with the tens of thousands of km of HS rail, and they have the electronics over in Shenzhen to do the automation and produce the brains of the car.
My point is Farage behaves like a Lord Elgin figure towards the Chinese and is therefore very stupid. Lord Elgin was known for his stupidity too. He is like some pompous bastard that goes down like a lead balloon in China. The idiot does not understand the first thing about business, which is you try and get on with people, you do not go looking for trouble. A business works through cooperation of all your suppliers, customers, workers, people selling your product and so on. You have to be Mr Nice.

Farage isnt perfect, but he is right about many many things. To sacrifice sovereighty for the convienience of car manufacture, or any manufacture is silly.

Farage isnt perfect, but he is right about many many things. To sacrifice sovereighty for the convienience of car manufacture, or any manufacture is silly. Ah but having established that fact Farage is swinging over to the BNP position on economics, which is ruinous. The BNP plus their fans believed that we could be like we were in the 19th century and be the manufacturer of everything, and that we should tax foreign imports, i.e. protectionism. A lot of this attitude is from the military and Farage is one who worships the British military and gains many votes via them.
Business and military are two opposite things. Military is about securing your country from attack, while business is about being open and cooperative towards everyone. The military is secretive and on a need to know basis, where business wants everyone to know about them and take an interest in their products. This was the problem in China too when Mao had had his Long March and beaten the bastards, so then the country needed to run properly, but Mao incorporated military thing into everything so it became a paranoid state. That's what the little red book was about, to tell the citizens to behave like warriors to protect against capitalists who wanted to take over and regain power. My gut feeling is Reform will be the new Khmer Rouge, which after Mao's death they figured the reason Mao had failed was he had not applied his own philosophy rigorously enough. This was an act of out of the frying pan and into the fire. This is why it is dangerous, but right now it is a kind of hunch I have. I read the comments of Reform supporters and can see the beginnings.

Can you tell me why I'm wrong? Lets use a less ambiguous word. The above is my hypothesis.
I'm happy to have it tested with the minds of the forum. Don't leave it hanging though.

I think most car mass production will eventually move from Europe to China and other manufacturers in the Far East - Europe has crippled manufacturing with its daft energy policy and regulation. It's far easier for manufacturers to go to places like China with its low standards and therefore lower cost base.

My guess is that the main issues that are adversely affecting the Tories such as migration, economic problems, NHS and trade union upsurge will over the next 12 months be addressed by the Government, it appears that they are drafting legislation to enable them to properly control what is happening with migration, our economic problems are no worse than other countries and it seems like Hunt is attempting to manage this, the NHS is a mess and until it is privatised will remain so, and I detect a Government firmness to flatten Mick Lynch. How successful they are remains to be seen, however, they will be under relentless pressure from the more independent news outlets and the Reform UK party to focus on all of the above. Labour are poised to take power and they can't demonstrate the first idea of what to do next, instead of getting in some modern whizz kids to come up with effective solutions and become a new New Labour, they have dug up Broon who was an outstanding failure in his day, supported by Angela Raynor who comes across as a sort of barmaid in a northern working mans club and Lady Nugee spouting hatred of the working classes, in short Labour are useless, hopeless and clueless.
I see the threat of Reform UK putting pressure on the Tories to steer to the right, I don't see them enjoying electoral success and my sinking feeling is that we shall have a minority Labour Government propped up by the Greens and the SNP, that should just about finish off the UK, Broon will bodge up some deal to give Scotland more money, more seats in the HoL and the English will become even more resentful.
In short, I am pessimistic.

Johnson tried to copy the Farage bombastic approach and is often now featured on Chinese media as a kind of iconic clown figure, the archetype British buffoon.I believe that experience and having Truss (a kind of Johnson apprentice) has scared the Tories into sobering up. One good move is they have that coke mine approved. It shows they have a business head on now and I think Rishi knows what makes business successful because he set up some investment funds.
Actually what the so-called Right really are is the left but more militaristic, so you have people like Duncan Smith, Tugendhat and Wallis. They will give it the British is great BS but work to screw us up. Perhaps just maybe if the Tories go really hard on trying to fix all the economic problems they will scrape through, but they need real results, measured in GDP growth. I do expect Labour to get in. I hear the SNP's big announcement is to give more "trans rights" to the people, God help them. It's a peek of what to expect when Starmer gets in. I've never heard him come up with any convincing economic plan. He's all soundbites and cliches.

They have lower environmental standards which ensures that manufacturing is cheaper. The Chinese dont care what they pollute or what their emissions outputs are as long as they can manufacture cheaper than the competition.

The Chinese dont care what they pollute or what their emissions outputs are as long as they can manufacture cheaper than the competition. They have light regulation all round, but firms these days in China voluntarily go for environmentally friendly solutions because it is good for their reputation. Remember this is a capitalist society so you want your badges to sell your product.
Actually the most environmentally troublesome occupation is mining rare earth elements. Someone has to do it and environmental damage is part of the cost. One good bit of news is they now have bacteria that feeds on heavy metals such as mercury, cadmium and other nasty stuff. They were not nearly as careful in the past, so there is a lot of soiled land they have which is getting cleaned up. The government strongly supports tech solutions like this.
