The crazy thing with Farage is he does not understand the global economy. He is so preoccupied with his pet subjects that he entirely neglects things like the state of our education and how business is so international these days that you just can't go around saying I will not trade with this country or that country. You will end up broke. He reckons he understands economics as he always lets you know he was once a metal trader, but I just do not see he has any kind of business head on him. To Farage a business is like a pub or a restaurant. Well of course you could get by as a country doing that sort of thing if you want to to be a third world holiday resort, but we don't even have the weather for it. Some of the things the EU has got involved in do make sense like integrated transport infrastructure or the Horizon science funding. Farage really fails in that he lacks solutions. As someone regulary noted on the old forum, you do talk some shite.....but you are not alone anmd just to improve your knowledge, Farage, apart from being chairman of Reform UK, isn't substantielly involved with them....yet. And Steve is right to correct the dribblings about Farages wife and the same dribblings about the number of times he didn't win a seat. If all you can do is insult then you aught to fuck off.

Farage stands up for Britishness, i have no problem with that. Like the French stand up for frogness etc. The values of englishness are wonderful. The problem with Farage as i see it is that he confuses Putin thinking and feeling the same, that Putinism is for and rejects all that is bad about socialism wokery etc. Putin is not about British values, at all. He is wrong to sympathise with such. Britain will soon be a boiling pot of many nationalities, all striving to maintain there own ethnic silliness, while britishness is destroyed, which is fair play and democracy. Fair play indeed. That went a long time ago. Everything is corrupt. The values of Englishness as deduced from past actions are horrific. Farage edits history and talks about the wonderful triumphs of Churchill and all that. The very thing that made this country what it was came from the church, and yet these talking heads are far too PC to admit that.
I see Farage as a propaganda merchant, stitching together any old popular crap, no matter if right or wrong, and also as a kind of entertainer. I have often thought of him a a host for a variety show and he knows how to make the audience laugh. Whilst laughing and pissing up down at the Farage Arms they of course get taken to the cleaners. He's a kind of cross between a variety show host and a double glazing salesman. It's that feeling you signed up to something without realising what exactly you signed up for.

Farage is a hero. Standing up against the EU, and the fatally flawed tories and labour.

Farage overcame the odds and was directly responsible for the UK leaving the EU. Later on he was directly responsible for the Tories booting out the most duplicitous Prime Minister we have ever seen.
As for the future, I predict that he will throw his hat in the ring as a Reform UK MP about 3 months before the next election, meanwhile he is gearing up to rubbish both Labour and Tories for all he is worth on GB News and bringing attention to matters which need changing.
I don't describe that as dangerous, if he presents genuine information to people that makes them change their voting intentions he is a good politician. I can't recall that anything he has ever said has been proved to be knowingly misleading.
The left dislike him because he demonstrates how shallow and vacuous their arguments are.

How many Reform councillors or other elected persons are there? And what’s the viewing figures for GBNews…?

I don't describe that as dangerous, if he presents genuine information to people that makes them change their voting intentions he is a good politician. I can't recall that anything he has ever said has been proved to be knowingly misleading. The left dislike him because he demonstrates how shallow and vacuous their arguments are. The really big problem with him is also his greatest success. He did indeed help to get us out of the EU and he applied a highly successful way of doing that. The problem with his highly successful method was it was untrue in that it did not reflect reality. You see reality is complicated, and if we were to understand what the EU does we would need to read an entire library of paperwork. Few understood it properly.
Anyway, it is a well known fact that if you took a random hundred people and sat them in a hall with a professor of global economics or similar they would be out of that door in five minutes. The complicated stuff and all those equations would be like a horror movie to them. Now imagine if we switch the speaker to a kind of Bruce Forsyth character. You know they would absolutely love it and give the chap big rounds of applause. What Farage has managed to do is combine the two. Remember that £350 million claim they put on the side of buses. That was nice and simple, and hence popular. Our problem was Johnson copied Farage and he got a landslide. OK so now out of the EU we actually have to go back to complicated if we are to win at this global game of competition and here Farage is a total space cadet. I've never heard him speak coherently about global economics. He may well have worked on a metal exchange but he does not know the theory, and is badly schooled. We've given it the blar blar rule Britannia, but can not come up with the goods. But the fans don't care. They will listen to any old crap because he is not thinking as an economist/businessman, but as a political entertainer. Some of those who he was critical of actually did the study, such as Mario Draghi.
To conclude: it does not follow that because we left the EU it makes any sense to be globally isolationist. If we were to do that we would become extremely poor. We need to trade with everyone, and make it as easy as possible to trade with everyone, not just the ones the dumb masses are in favour of on the day. Indeed China had this problem because Mao won victory but then he became an iconic figure where every word he spoke was taken as gospel, including some things that would kill tens of millions. It is why they don't do that today. I just sense Reform will take the same methodology and win but win in a way which is destructive, because they too are a superficial outfit.

You dont have to read a library of paperwork, you just need to look at outcomes. Leaving the EU is not isolationist, we still trade as before, its more difficult, because we are being punished. Leaving the EU is about power, not nuts and bolts. Being in the EU is like someone coming into my house and telling me when i can have tea, what type, how much milk, and dictating that i cant have funny shaped fruit. Etc.
Giving up self determination, power, control, is a recipe for disaster.
Your assumption that the EU is a force for good is mistaken, every large organisation becomes corrupted, and small ones. There is a reason why we have elections every five years. Businesses need new management, a renewed management almost annually. Any organisation is a reflection of one man. Who is that in the EU? That fact alone is disturbing. Britain loses in the EU and pays for it, it makes zero sense. We can enter into any cooperation, agreement etc, but on our terms.
Big is not better.
The EU is another european facist state, disguised, and corrupt to the core. We must be crazy to have anything to do with it. The eternal struggle against facists goes on, now its called globalism. If that gets hold, you wont be able to fart without ending up in a gulag.

This is it, Farage was right about leaving the EU but wrong about many of the details. I'm still learning, but to give you one example, there is the European car market. Cars are so expensive to set up manufacturing that the idea was economy of scale, so the EU became a super factory. Cars have millions of parts, so you have a whole chain of supply, and this needs to work like it is all one factory even though parts are made all over the EU. You need a set of standards, so that an engineer in one place knows a certain part has a certain spec and will work with another part. The cost reduction in manufacturing with standardisation is phenomenal, but Farage was dishonest or ignorant in these matters. The inevitable has happened now as foreign car manufacturers can no longer operate in Britain. It is one of our largest manufacturing industries. In fact it is worse than that because there factories are not even moving back to the EU. BMW Mini production will now happen in China due to energy cost; and here's the thing. China has a population of 1.4bn where the EU is 447m. The economy of scale argument is real, so they can take it a notch higher and be even more competitive than the EU. Chances are China will dominate car production as it goes electric. We could blow out this EU bullshit if we struck a deal with China where we can share manufacturing of cars. It's better to get in with the winners in my opinion if you care about the economy, yet Farage advises the opposite. He's doing a Mao where he makes you believe he is the master sage of all wisdom. He is far from it.

That seems to be a contradictory statement.
Leaving the EU has made no difference at all to Airbus wing production at Chester, you are right in as much as the EU are milking it with red tape, but that only demonstrates we were right to leave.
