Anybody watching the Bundesliga at the weekend, especially the match between Bochum and Bayern will have been puzzled to see play stopped and the players called to the sidelines after fans cascaded showers of tennis balls onto the pitch. Play was interrupted twice for the same reason although nobody was hurt.
At other grounds fans disrupted play by setting remote controlled toy cars off on the pitch or threw gold coins (chocolate coins in gold wrappers) onto the pitch.
So what was it all about? Well apparently Bundesliga clubs (I and II) have approved plans by the German FA to sell media rights to a private company controlled by US interests.
Can you imagine English football fans ever getting up to such antics? Say for example if a Premre Leagure were to be bought by the Saudis?
Nah.

I think the Germans are wary of seeing their league going in the same direction as ours where money rules and fans have little option but to pay through the nose to watch it , either on TV or live in the stadium . The TV rights were ,from a conversation I had with a German a few years ago shared out among various stations at fixed rates with tickets for matches capped at a few euros . Nothing like what we pay here thats for sure .
We sold the soul of our game years ago
