Why would Labour inundate us with foreign workers when we already have 1.32 million UNEMPLOYED, why don't we train the ones we have here?
There is no 'theories' only common sense, Labour never talk about getting our unemployed BACK TO WORK, they always talk of importing foreigners instead, and you don't think they have other motives? .......... LOL more fool you.
The vast majority of these will be short term unemployed, between jobs. The remnants that are long term unemployed are generally unemployable, you certainly wouldn't want to retrain them as doctors or nurses. They could be usead as shit shovelers or any other unskilled employment in that case...Do you think it requires a degree to pick up litter or sweep the streets?

The hospitality industry, care homes, nursing staff, fruit pickers, there are big shortages in these industries, with very little training needed for any of them, I don't think Labour had doctors in mind, maybe nurses, but foreign doctors/nurses don't have the required qualifications that UK doctors and nurses would require, lots of these foreign workers have Micky Mouse degrees that strangely enough are accepted, just loopholes being used to let them in.

Seems that importing 700,000 migrants a year is not enough - we need more... If the migrants/asylum seekers were skilled or trained personal there wouldn't be a problem. That says a lot about the deep failures of Conservative governments since 2010

"Even if EVERY unemployed Londoner was trained to do the unfilled skilled jobs, there would still be a skills shortage" Think about that, he was ramming home the point that there are not enough people to fill the jobs, and so without importing both skilled and unskilled labour, how do you solve the problem. ? In my home town there has suddenly appeared dozens of young Nigerian men and women, its noticeable because where I live it is 99% white. They have arrived to fill job vaccancies in the care industry. Our health and our elderly put at risk because the NHS will hire anyone and don’t care about qualifications. After all, thanks to the government there are 10 million more people to treat in this country.
So god help those that need care in your neck of the woods........
More than 700 Nigerian nurses under investigation for taking part in 'industrial-scale' qualifications fraud could be working in the NHS ....
The magnificence of Brexit exposed in all it glory LOL

Another one of those embarrassing moments for Labour, when they were calling everyone racists, so we had to point out the majority of previous immigrants didn't think they had come up with anything approaching reality either or the present immigration policies were a good idea either. Which must make them racists as well. It seems you never stop to think before posting.

To become a registered nurse, you need to complete a nursing program. There are three main ways to become an RN: earning a bachelor's degree, an associate degree, or a diploma in nursing. Common prerequisites for nursing school include basic anatomy, physiology, biology, psychology, and anatomy. Nursing schools often require that incoming students earn a minimum "C" grade in these courses. Admission requirements for nursing programs may include a high school diploma or GED, SAT/ACT scores, personal essays, transcripts, letters of recommendation, and Test of Essential Academic Skills (TEAS). So what have the Tories been doing at least since Brexit saw so many skilled and or trained personal leave the UK? I know that many nurses who were part way through a bachelor's degree course, had their studies stopped by the Tory government, causing some to take early retirement, thus the loss of skilled nurses nurses to the NHS. Add that to the year one year reduction in NHS funding and we see a typical Tory attack on the NHS.

Why did care homes in my home town use the avenues opened to them by this government to import West African care workers. Because no one in my home town, or in the surrounding area wants those jobs. At the wages they are paying...

At the wages they are paying... Not true Care homes have raised wages, many have offered various incentives including Golden Hello's and huge bonuses after working for several months, some have offered holidays over and above the statutory requirements. But British people simply dont want to wipe the bottoms of people with dementia or bathe them or clean up after them.

Its OK to have opinions, but it is propaganda to pre-judge in the way you do. Lets see how a Centre-Left government deals with it.

What rate are the care workers earning? Are these jobs Domiciliary or care homes ?

It's little wonder people are seeing lots more Nigerians around. In the y/e 30.9.23, 18,000 Nigerians received visas for 'care workers and carers' and another 9,000 in the Skilled worker - health and care category (mostly nurses). In addition they were accompanied by 45,000 dependants.

But British people simply dont want to wipe the bottoms of people with dementia or bathe them or clean up after them. Nonsense - 80% of workers in care homes are British. The reason there is demand for foreign workers is that the current rules which allow employers to pay overseas workers 20% less than the equivalent domestic wage if the migrant will be filling a vacancy on the Shortage Occupation List.
