At least 150 families have been served eviction notices after a council moved to buy back a private building – leaving many homeless or forced to move out of the borough.
The properties being brought back by Lambeth council are “affordable” private rentals on the Central Hill Estate, Fenwick Estate and Westbury Estate – managed by the council-run Homes for Lambeth.

Ealing Council has agreed to a £150m plan to buy up housing to help combat levels of homelessness in the borough.
Councillors were told the plans would increase housing stock and be more cost-effective than temporary accommodation.

Medway Council will buy 150 properties to house "families who find they might not have a roof over their heads," according to councillor Naushabah Khan.
The authority will operate the temporary accommodation, which will cost a total of £42m, rather than paying private landlords.
