After 4 pages of the usual merrygoround of criticism that has littered white male British conversation for years, i am still unclear abour what "civilised" means.
I am also not surprised that it is always men who criticise Muslim women.
I dont consider that "civilised".
Civilised to me means personal liberty and equality.
So why is it that you dont have a go at orthodox Jewish men ? of course many do when some Israeli politics come up but it isnt a constant drumbeat.
Iconsider this entire thread to be uncivilised. 75 years ago women who went out without a hat were criticised. There was a strict dress code including hem length and stockings. Was that the "civilised" you referred to?
I dont think castigating women for not wearing something or indeed wearing something is civilised. I think it is as uncivilised as insisting Jews wore yellow stars.
Civilised means personal freedom. The way women dress does no harm to you. I find the language and racism of Jonksy far less civilised than a street full of burkas. 75 years ago most civilised British wouldnt dream of accusing women of degrading Britain. They would consider those like Jonksy of being uncivilised because then the cultural elements associated with the UK included tolerance and equality. Fascists such as Oswald Mosely and Enoch Powell introduced "otherness" as a threat to what THEY saw as British...both of course part of the old class system that the wars were eroding. So they blamed "others". Jonksy would have rushed out to buy a brown shirt he would have been told to wear. And been the first to shout if there was a law passed to forbid it.

A teenaged white British girl and boy stabbed another young person to death. I note Jonksy doesnt comment on their chosen style of dress.

You think the thread criticises women ? Jeez🙄 No. I think you cant read. Though it is clear that the first target of "otherness" is usually women's dress.

The target was about lack of choice of attire . Which is enforced by a patriarchy . Maybe I was right .

Have the parents been taken into the Labour party to force big government's nanny state? It's so common today, but people only seem to be interested when it overlaps with some agenda.
