A few days ago Labour were thrown into controversy over anti-semitic comments made by prospective Labour MP Azhar Ali. Initially Starmer stood by him, then under growing pressure decided to sack him. Now another Labour candidate Graham Jones has been suspended for referring to Israel as F*cking Israel, and saying any UK citizens who volunteer to fight for the Israeli Defence Forces should be locked up - link Can Starmer really rid the party of antisemitism? Is it even possible to stamp out antisemitism within the Labour party? Somehow I doubt it. Muslims are famously anti-semitic, and traditionally support Labour. |

There should be plenty more taking over the unseated Tories — it depends on how the Mail manages to manipulate the news… From what I'm listening to, there may be more suspensions. This is a crisis for Starmer, no doubt about it. Azhar Ali and Graham Jones were just two speakers at a meeting where several people spoke, including allegedly senior Labour figures like Angela Raynor. Oh dear, oh very dear. |

This is a crisis for Starmer, no doubt about it. Azhar Ali and Graham Jones were just two speakers at a meeting where several people spoke, including allegedly senior Labour figures like Angela Raynor. Oh dear, oh very dear. Graham Jones looks sane and responsible by Labour's normal standards. He looks generally pretty harmless and does things which look reasonably sensible. At least he is British. |
