The letter could not be interpreted as trying to force the homeowners to sell - that was a lie The letter was not strongly worded - that was a lie It is unlikely the couple involved were "horrified" - that was a lie The headline was designed to force outrage junkies that the council was bullying old and vulnerable people out of their homes -that was a lie. Lie lie lie clickbait lie. Nice try, dappy - but as before, the letter was quite specific.
Now you can try to reinterpret fact as much as you like but the letter is there for all to read.

The letter does not back the thread title which is as I pointed out, a false story and one created just to create alarm and undeserved reactions. The Op author could of course correct the thread title but no one should hold their breath. Councils have the ability to compulsorily acquire long term EMPTY properties and then have a whole host of calls on such housing stock. But no one is or can 'bully old and vulnerable out of their homes' This single council made a ONE OFF error as the article showed they admitted and looking at other details in the article, I'd say that was down to the way this fetid government has failed to properly staff the land registry despite taking in the money to do so.

In some parts of the country house owners cannot convert their properties into flats because the roads can't cope with the extra cars.

"Our council tried to force"...
I read the letter and cannot see that. It really is a misrepresentation of the letter which actually offers to help the owners towards restoration.

I was only quoting the article Headline ..
Our council tried to force us to sell our £200,000 home to make room for asylum seekers: Elderly couple's horror after strongly-worded letter lands on their doorstep
If you read the link you will see there is no 'false' story it is completely true, I suggest if you have a problem with the Op thread title then you take it up with the DM, that is the Headline they chose to use for this 'true' story.

LOL.... just watching all the lefties who are calling the story blown out of proportion, and it's just a made up headline grabbing load of lies, wait till they find out that the Council in question are Conservative, wonder if they will change their tune now.

^ Your thread title is your own made up fiction and does not appear in that article. It's what you do FS.

There's an obvious reason for that priority. Migrants tend to have no network to provide them with accommodation whereas we have large numbers sofa surfing with friends or living with the hotel of Mum and Dad.
The councils have to give priority to those who'd otherwise be dying on the streets

"Admittedly, the letter could have been better written — on the other hand, perhaps it got the response that was intended from the Conservative client media..."
