Several illegals have been dramatically rescued after their small boat got into difficulties in the middle of the English Channel. They were attempting to cross from France in poor weather conditions. Lifeboats from Dover, Dungeness and Hastings were able to get to the scene and pull a number of people from the water - linkYou will notice that no fewar than three English lifeboats were dispatched to pick up these criminals. As far as I can tell, the French having allowed them to put to sea in the first place, just shrugged. Which is exactly what we should be doing. We must be mad, literally mad.

I dont think we can let people drown in the Channel Red as much as we want the crossings stopped .What we should be doing though is taking them back to France not bringing them to Dover . I saw a rib leave the French beach this morning on the news and thought with the weather as it was they were chancing it
Despite government reports crossings for January are give or take a boatload the same as last year

If they are rescued in French waters, they should be taken to France. If not they become our issue. You can't claim sovereignty over the waters without the accompanying responsibility.

But enough is enough. I'm afraid my patience, my empathy, my understanding, is spent. Perhaps the French may be more inclined to rescue criminals they allowed to put to sea in the first place, if we refused to. Or if that sounds harsh, perhaps we should pick them up and return them to France, but UK lifeboats/border force should not be rescuing criminals from France and bringing them to the UK.

There's a difference between running out of patience and running out of morality.

There's a difference between running out of patience and running out of morality. And your thoughts on French morality...

I would agree under the condition that we do whats required to ensure all migrants are rescued in French waters . Being sovereign has the responsibility of protecting it .

There's a difference between running out of patience and running out of morality. the issue, as has been shown on bloody live TV, is that the french navy / coast guard, on encountering a boatload of illegals, escorts it to the point where it becomes our problem, then waits round for our RNLI to do their thing.

Precisely, it's ridiculous. The French allow them to drag dinghies down beaches and put to sea, yet for some reason it's the UK's job to rescue them, and what is even more baffling is once rescued they're ferried to England! Why?

Because the Treasury have told the Government to get them in here as cheap labour, a short term measure to help industry, it saves training our own young people.
