I've asked that question got no.reply. I'm not surprised. It was mentioned on another thread about the Labour MP living in a council house. Unfortunately some people have the assumption that only people on benefits should be in social housing, something that their own prejudice has invented. What people? Does questioning a well paid MP living in social housing equate to “ only people on benefits should be in social housing?” Are you incapable of understanding the difference ?

I suppose it figures. Maybe you should learn enough french to read the 1957 Treaty of Rome as opposed to the abomination the FOM’ers made it with their ‘consolidation’ revisionism. The original treaty gave workers in one state the right to apply for work in the PRIVATE sector in another of the six, NEVER the public sector which was EXCLUSIVELY for citizens of the state whose taxpayers paid for it, and only then until or while each nation state’s government decreed it in that state’s national interest If the FOM scum hadn’t blown up the portcullis i’d be happy to still be in the EEC, under the 1957 rules But that was never going to be.

what is its purpose if not for those that cannot afford housing on the open market? Did we build vast Council Estates because the architectural features were better looking? They were built for working folk. why were they subsidised - and why is social housing still subsidised?

What is the definition of social housing?
National Housing Federation - About social housing
It can be rented from housing associations or councils at reduced rents, or it can be part-sold, part-rented as shared ownership. It exists to help people who can't afford to rent or buy a home on the open market, and is usually built with the support of government funding. I Ask you the question do you know why Council housing was built at First. To provide cheap housing for workers what has all this got to do with non-UK citizens, who cannot support themselves, getting social housing?
