The lawyer who represented Shamima Begum’s family and led a defamation case against Tommy Robinson is set to stand as an independent MP in east London. 'Tasnime Akunjee' has announced he intends to run in the Bethnal Green and Stepney constituency in Tower Hamlets at the general election. He cited current Labour MP 'Rushanara Ali's' refusal to support a ceasefire in Gaza, during a vote in Parliament last year, as one of the reasons he was running - link
He also celebrated the Taliban regaining power in Afghanistan by tweeting 'The boys are back in town'. This is the thin end of the wedge posters. In a few decades time this country will be unrecognisable. I wonder, will virtue signalling politicians who take the knee, and idiotic lefties who worship woke and diversity look back and ask, what the hell have we done. |

Are you suggesting that people you don’t like should be banned from standing in an election? Sounds like this guy is standing as an independent. In all likelihood will get just a handful of votes. What’s the issue here?

What’s the issue here? I mentioned in the OP that he was standing as an independent. And the issue is Muslims, shouty demanding aggressive Muslims who have no respect for anyone else's way of life. We are supposed to be a secular country, but listening to Muslims including Muslim MP's you could be forgiven for thinking that secularism is a thing of the past. A week rarely passes without some angry Muslim demonstration, is that teacher from Batley still in hiding? We have recently seen two Labour Muslim MP's in the HoC aggressively ranting against the government and Israel. We have seen aggressive Muslim mobs waving Hamas flags and demonstrating outside MP's constituency offices because said MP's dont support Palestine/Hamas, and of course on these occasions the police look the other way. I have every confidence if the mob had been waving union jacks the police would have sorted them out immediately. This 'Tasnime Akunjee' is just another angry Muslim who should, in my opinion be barred from standing as an MP not least of all for praising the Taliban. |

Unsurprisingly perhaps i wish him well in his nomination and tbe loss of his deposit when it matters
My advice to any seeking to follow his example is this
It is your right if you are a registered elector not bankrupt and not in prison for a sentence exceeding 12 months to declare yourself at the point parliament is prorogued or at any tome beforehand a PROSPECTIVE parliamentary candidate
Any person doing so has the right to stand in the street with a leaflet identifying you as a PPC, stating the party if any you want to stand under the banner of, manifesto statements if any and a day glo bucket labelled donations
If you do this at a peak time of day and do not collect a substantial amount you should question the point of continuing. I collected £420 of the £500 i needed in two and a half hours
You have to declare this to the electoral commission whether you stand or not.
That’s about it.

What’s the issue here? Some years ago George Galloway stood in similar circumstances and re entered Parliament via the angry Muslim vote. It's not good to encourage religious people towards a life of hatred and division. |

In 77 of the 573 parliamentary constituencies in England and Wales less than half of the constituents are white British.
All but ten of these constituencies are held by the Labour Party and ethnic minority MPs have been elected in 26 of them.
A pattern is emerging...
