Yeah saw this, won’t have one don’t trust the things another way you could be controlled. With all the crap software issues to the fore or that hackers from foreign powers could hack in to them and shut off your power yet they carry on saying we should all have one.

The energy companies are pestering people to death to have smart meters because it's going to save them money, it's another step in having Big Brother monitoring your every move, they can tell what time you cook, when you do the washing, when you are in or out of the house, water meters can tell when you use the toilet and how many times a day, it's purely to NOSE at what you are doing, then sell off your information to third party companies who will then target you with junk mail.
The big Smart Meter con.

The problem with writing software is it is unknown how long it will take until the job is complete and fully tested, therefore due to idiots setting deadlines the software is released unfinished, i.e. with bugs in it. The solution is to no longer use deadlines and if other stuff would need to wait for the software, the best thing to do is start the software earlier, giving more than enough time. Software is not always a case of longer than expected. Sometimes you can do several months work in 5m if you spot a really clever way of doing something. Other times your 5m fix fails due to just one tiny obscure reason.

Absolutely, when Universal Credit was introduced in 2013 the software was a disaster, it couldn't handle the amount of claimants and the different benefits they were all on, in fact it had a 'meltdown'.
It is now 2024 and Universal Credit is in the final stages of completion, they removed all deadlines, and resolved all software issues before fully 100% rolled out, and quite rightly.

That's interesting. We don't have a smart meter, I refuse to have one. But yes, I can see smart meters being the next Horizon scandal.
