Girls were 'left at the mercy' of paedophile grooming gangs for years in Rochdale after police and council bosses failed to act on 'compelling evidence', a damning report has found.
The review into how police and social workers did not respond to large-scale child sexual exploitation by gangs of mainly Asian men between 2004 and 2012 was published this morning and pointed the finger at failures within Greater Manchester Police (GMP) and Rochdale Council.
Among the shocking details released in the report was that many abusers have to this day, not yet been apprehended or brought to justice for crimes committed against children. It identified 96 men who are still deemed a potential risk to children, but this is 'only a proportion' of the numbers involved in the abuse.

The review names the perpetrators as 'Asian' men, this is wrong. Asian men implies Japanese, Chinese, Vietnamese, Indians any man from the continent of Asia. Lets not muddy the waters for the sake of political correctness. Grooming gang offences/reviews/reports, refer to 'Pakistani' men, and on this occasion the Mayor and Chief Constable of Manchester have at last publicly apologised for abandoning young girls and ignoring grooming gangs in the greater Manchester area. Maggie Oliver, of the Maggie Oliver Foundation who in my opinion should be a Dame, says she has evidence that shows Pakistani grooming gangs are still abusing young girls in greater Manchester.
